bubba,
Congrats! Great price. I bought a similar one for $89 a few months ago, but haven't touched it since hiding it in my garage. I should really dig it out. Good luck with it and please post more pics when you can.

Well, I just got it home... Not too bad. I saw one spot in the corner of the coin door that has rusted through, but it is a pinhole and can probably be fixed without welding.. The front panel doesn't have a light behind it, but its translucent and will light up when I'm done. The compressor works and gets cold, and is extremely quiet. I'm looking forward to this one. I'm gonna take it to my shop on Monday and give it a good cleaning, and see exactly what I've got. I'm going to attempt a full paint job on the machine. I like the Nehi on the machine and am going to try to locate some decals. I'll post some more pics later on tonite.

Looks great! I have built several 56's so if you have any questions feel free to ask. I also have some small parts left over from projects. They are really nice and simple machines to restore. Most of all make sure to post alot of pics. '<img'>

Thanks Josh... It looks like so far the only thing I am going to need is a bottle door handle, probably some main door hinges (they are pitted), and a coinco changer. The coin return assembly is also pretty pitted and discolored. Not sure what I am going to do there. Everything else is there and in useable shape. The machine does look simple to work on. I also would like to know what color code white and what color for the coin door I should use. I want to put it back as a RC machine.

Here are a few pics....

one more... And I've got a lead on a 7-up machine that I am going to try to see today. The guy is asking too much for it though, but I still want to see it.

Great machine, bubba!  Glad you're keeping it RC/NEHI.

Great score, Bubba! Looks like this will be a fun project. I think it's an awesome idea restoring it as an RC machine. Is that burn/fire damage I see on the lower right hand corner of the body and main door?

Brian..I'm not sure. Its definately rust, but I'm not sure what the black is. Most of it came off after the pressure wash in the shop this am. Its almost like spray paint or something.
Glen... I was about to toss the changer out and get a Coinco.. I can replace the solenoid, but its pretty rusty all over. I guess I'll take a 2nd look at it.

At the bottom of the machine, there is what looks like vents. It is not vents though, but paint. Not quite sure how to work on that area. Also, on the top next to the coin slot, the white pattern with the text is painted on. Not sure what to do with that either. I imagine there are decals around?
