Hi,
OK, think I need to join the fun all are having with their jukeboxes. Problem is the songs I'd like to have would be costly if not impossible to find on a 45 rpm record.

Does anybody offer a service where they make a 45 for you? I remember the booths where you recorded your song and it kicked out a 45. I'll search a bit and see what I can find.
Thanks all!!

I remember seeing a place that did this.  Very pricey though.  Mind if I ask what kind you are looking for?

Brent,
Not at all, it would be fun to have some of the Carlin/Crosby/Newhart comedy routines, non "Top 40" cuts off vintage RR albums, the old Delta Blues stuff etc...
Just talked to a friend said the real 45's were pressed from a steel master and the "booth" cuts were made into a softer compound that would not last very many plays. Think if even possible it's gonna be pricey :-(
Thanks!!

They did make some of those comedy routines on 45.  One guy I get 45's from is ebay id waynes45s.  You might try contacting him.  He has tons of 45's and does have some comedy stuff.  I also get 45's from Yesterday and Today Records.  You'll probably have to email them since they may not have that stuff listed.  They used to have an actual store, but moved to all mail order a few years ago and they are still inputting all their records.

I got a great little computer program that cleans recordings up very well. It has an EQ and all sorts of effects that can be applied to the recording. Also has a filter that can take all the pops out of an LP out.
If anyone has something they would like cleaned up, I can do it real easy. You would need to send me a disc of a WAV or MP3 file.
Maybe there might be a company that you could send a WAV file to and the could produce a 45 RPM.

Just did a quick ebay check and there are a number of Carlin 45's.
Search link.
Just in case the link doesn't work right, I searched for (Carlin, Crosby, Newhart ) 45 comedy  in the title and description. '<img'>

Crieghton

here's a link to the record cutting service offered by one bloke in the UK.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JUKEBOX....iewItem

Have you already got a Jukebox?'<img'> If you haven't then this might be a solution you'd consider. Unless of course you have a little old girl next door to you that happens to have a Wurly 2000 still in its shipping crate sitting in her garage that she just wants rid of. The way its going you just never know...

It works off a PC. You'll need a working wall box. Something like a Seeburg 3W1. Easily available off Ebay and a transformer to re-create the 24v. You then just connect it to the PC and by way of MP3 format you can load whatever you want into it and Hey Presto all those tracks that never got to 45.

I have one. It has all my SKA music on it along with a few impossible to get early R & B tracks.

If you want to buy into the Jukebox thing but either don't have the space or don't have the money its a great way to get that 50's effect without splashing the cash.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but this site seems to make vinyl records No indication of minimum amounts or cost though.

I think her name is Bubbles. She has a bit with a giant champagne glass on the topless circuit.

Just got back home and thanks for all the replys!! Sadly regret there is no "Girly with a Whirly" named Bubbles nearby but will keep a hoping :-)
Great links:
Dr. G. Great help thanks!
MCarter, that place looks good. They seem to be doing a "reissue" of some stuff I did a quick search on. Excellent tip!
Dave, Outstanding Thanks!! I'm juke-less at this point so a great thing to try out. Saw 3 wallboxes at a "antique fair" today. Didn't know what to pay or what I needed. Now I do. Thanks so much.
Thanks all!!
Project continues...

I wouldn't much higher than that

3W1's are two a penny. Especially where you are. They are always on Ebay.
Hold on and you should get a good (possibly re-chromed one for under the $250.00 mark).

Just my Shillings worth

Here is a selection of early 80's 45's for sale in NY, but they are easy to ship...

http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/clt/142474067.html

not sure what this person has, but lists 45's as well.

Another good source for 45's, CD's and such is Half Price Books if you have the store in your area. I was in one yesterday and had quite a few for 25 cents a piece.
