This was in someones basement for 30 years and played on a regular basis. It is a 1950 Seeburg 100 B. The guy did not want it anymore so I offered him $75 bucks for it. He said sold. It works. The mech will select all 100 records. I will restore it when I am done with my Dad's Rootbeer Vendo 56 square top. I can't wait to get started.

I use a escalero automatic stair climber. If you knew how many 340 lb jukeboxes, soda machines, gas pumps, and candy machines I have taken out of peoples cellers. I think the more dificult something is to get out of a basement, the cheaper you can buy it for. Old folks usually just want somebody to get it out of there. Ever good junker needs an automatic stair climber.

Eric and Kito:
I have been very luck over the past two years. Because I don't resell what I restore, people tend to give me stuff. I also explain to elderly people that I was born in the wrong era. I am literally building a working malt shop in my basement. I have a Bastian Blessing soda fountain that is stunning. I bring pictures with me as I meet my perspective sellers and show them my restoration projects. I also have 4 kids that have parties at my home and I take pictures of children using some of the candy machines, soda machines etc. Older people really want their old stuff to be restored and enjoyed. Also, I have all me friends on the lookout.
A couple of months ago, I had a friend tell me there was a working Stoner Candy machine at a gas station 5 miles from my office. I bought it for $100.00 My friend did not take a finders fee so I caught up with him at our local Dave and Busters with about 10 of his friends. I called the waitress over and paid their bar tab without him knowing about it. Not only did he call me to say thanks but he also gave me the phone number of one of his friend's father in law that wanted to part with an old jukebox. When other members in his party found out why I picked up the bar tab, I got other "heads ups" and was given a Vendo 56 square top.
I think good things happen to good people. I am always honest with people and it seems that many ederly people get comfort in knowing that small kids are using my soda machine and candy machines everyday. In the summer time, I have a squre top and a stoner candy machine by my poolhose. Both machines vend on a dime. Kids come from all over the neighborhood to take advantage of the special pricing.
Without the stair climber, I could not take some of this stuff out of basements. I can even do it by myself. Eric, I can get you some info on them. I am luckey because I use them for my business.

absoulutely unbelievable find... I'm working on a guy right now with three items he's looking to unload. A Seeburg J Juke that is in great shape, a Seeburg trashcan Juke that needs work and a Coke Westinghouse 42. not sure if I'm going to get a deal but still a good find I think... I too would like more info on that Stair Climber Deal... never saw one before.
Congrats on the find... would love to see those photos of the Malt Shoppe in progress and finished.. .that is my hope someday as now all my stuff is just thrown into a room.

Great job Brian! (The 'Brian's" strike again!) '>
The "B" looks really solid, if you need any tips on it, feel free to ask. I'm about 85% done restoring my "B". I'm currently in the process of veneering it. After shopping around and doing oodles of research I decided it would be far less expensive and a better learning experience to boot!
Oh yeah, that stairclimber is AWESOME! I'd love to have one.

Terry: I am thinking about doing a grade one on it but I have already started my Seeburg HF100R. Did you use a zebra wood laminate to restore it? I played with the amp today and now I have everything working. It selects and I can't believe that it actually sounds great. If I decide to do it like the way I have done the other restoration, I will have a ton of questions for you. If you look at the photos, I am missing the trim pieces that go around the outline of the cabinate. Would you sell me those trim pieces? Please let me know.

Dave; (The birdman)
What seems to be the rage in Europe over the AMI 200 Js. They seem to go for abourt twice over seas then they go for in the US. Do the Europeans like the AMIs better then the Seeburgs? I have owned both and prefer the Seeburgs. Your thoughts?

Hello BrianC, The trim pieces that you are missing are they the pieces that connect the 4 cornered chrome pieces together in the front? Around the speaker area? I will help you out anyway I can. I painted the cabinet on the "B", I didn't try to re-laminate it. I had a buyer that wanted it painted.

Brian
I've had Jukes for about seven years. Have visited all the shows here in the UK during that period.
The Holly Grail is still the Wurly 2000 but now followed closely by The AMI I & H. We have a lot of Rockola's floating around this side of the pond. I think that the Rockola Comany may have been more aggresive in thier marketing than the other three. Things like Tempos & Regis's are fairly easy to get hold of.
The earlier AMI's were also shipped over in the early 50's and converted by a British Company to beat the Customs import ban. That company Balfour put out models almost Identical to the US version but re-branded them Bal-Ami's.
Seeburgs are almost non-existent. You can go to shows see loads of Wurlys Rockolas and AMI but maybe only one or two Seeburgs and then they'll normally be the R or maybe a B.
Price wise the cost this side is easily double what you'd pay. To give you an idea I paid £4,000. for a A1 restorded Empress (200 play) it really is fantastic but not a top of the list box. I bought my Wurly 1900 for just under £4,000 and spent about another £1000 sorting it out cosmetically. Even things like chroming here would cost twice what you guys would pay.
The market has pretty much stagnated with Jukes and they are perhaps not the investment that everyone selling them said they would be. I never bought mine for money I could never re-sell them. To me they are a piece of art a time captured in history. The market is also a little stuffed up with smaller dealers knocking out boxes on Ebay UK. The Dutch too are massively into Jukes and they are only across the water to us.
The thing that we don't have in plentiful supply is Soda Machines. There are, as far as I am aware, no dedicated dealers in these machines. The Juke boys may have the occasional machine that they will bring to the shows but nobody that would specialise in these. If I had the intial outlay & the balls I'd ship some over set up a route near the city in the US Banks and vend bottles at a £1.00 (about $1.70) with a big notice n the machines telling them how they could own their very own machine in their city pads at only $7,000. With the bonuses that are flying around in the city that's chicken feed.
We can all dream......

Dave, you could set up your 39 for public use, but you won't get more than 10 cents for each product you sell........ Is the Whirlitzer reproduction V-44 selling well over there?

Your right Glenn 10c is not going to be the start of my empire.
I have never seen the Wurlitzer repro in the flesh. Not at any of the Jukebox shows I've been to. I know that a couple of the dealers were selling them a while back but whether they were popular or not I don't know. Likewise I have seen the Junior repros pop up every now and then on Ebay UK. They have always been around the £700.00 mark as an opening bid with a reserve set. Never seen one go yet.
With regard to my 39. I know that a member put a machine on his porch last year for the local kids. I might try that in the summer here. I'd have to leave the dimes out too. Might generate a bit of interest from the mums and dads. Potential soda machine allies.

Dave, You're on to something, so try a trick I saw at an antique shop selling a Vendo 39 (and yes, I still say it was overpriced) Charge your customers a £1.00, for a dime to use in the machine, they get the thrill of vending the soda, you get the profit....

Dave:
Thanks for the explanation. I let the neighborhood kids use both my vebdo 56 as well as my Stoner candy machine to vend for a dime. I hope this summer to bump it up to 15 cents. I could use the extra cash. Now if I could only find the correct mechs. Unfortunatatley, I am going through A JUKEBOX phase. I hope it doesn't last long. I need to finish my Cav 96 round top and my Dad's rootbeer Vendo 56 before the wife serves me with divorce papers.

Brian C,
Well I finally got around to looking up the dolly/handtruck you recommended and it sounds incredible! The answer to my prayers! Now my friends won't have to avoid me everytime I buy something new to go down to (or up out of) my basement gameroom, etc.!
Everyone can read about it here: http://www.escalera.com/
I had no idea that a battery-powered, automatic step climbing dolly existed.
They even sell portable steps that you put next to your pickup truck so that you can easily and automatically climb it up into your truck on your own!!!
I SOOOOOOOO want one, but am a bit put off by the $1,500.00 - $2,000.00 price tag on a new model.
I checked eBay and did not see any.
Does anyone know where I might find a used or less expensive one?
Don't get me wrong, it would be well worth the price in the longrun, but just too big a chunk to bite off at this time.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks so much, 'kito

The electric company in our area sells huge, heavy water heaters. They use those stair climbers to get them in/out of basements.

All I can say is that I love my Escalero. You can actually get a 350lb jukebox out of someones basement by yourself.
Good luck if you purchase it. I paid a lot more then 500 bucks for mine.
