Came across this article.  I wonder what the fall out will be if Ebay loses.

You are right that it would be impossible to Police the Millions of items.
What really annoys me is the efforts you go to to report a fruadulent entry and then Ebay either do nothing about it or are very slow to act. In the meantime some poor sod has lost a load of money.

On their tool bar there should be a heading with one click to report a fruadulent entry rather than you having to navigate halfway around the site to find the correct way to do it.

That is a great idea Dave.  Trying to report problems there is a joke.  I believe that it is the responsibility of the buyer to determin if the seller is good or not, but once something shows up and is fraudulant ebay needs to be more helpful is resolving the problem.

Since E-bay owns paypal they could offer an escrow service. Paypal holds the funds until the product is delivered. Package could be inspected and either be accepted of refused, and reflected in feedback section.  I'm sure they will want to charge the buyer a fee for this security feature, and .......... imagine the interest income on the funds held by Paypal worldwide for that extra 5 to 7 days.   Only honest sellers would agree to this arrangement.

Birdman hit it right on the nose. What an extreme effort it takes to report anything! Try it sometime. It would take you an hour just to report what should only take seconds if you are not familiar with it. Ebay wants nothing to do with employing human beings other than programers.

That's the idea.  They purposly make it difficult for you to do it.

Ebay could easily solve the problem if they wanted to. I tried to go through them once on a fraudulent matter only to say  '<img'> it.  '<img'> Don't ever buy any soda stuff from a guy by the name of Chilicard.
