Looking at Josh's Select-vend. Interesting how the bottle stack was built with Vendo 110 parts and the compressor is identical to Cavalier 72 / 96.

From what I can tell the outside trim is from a Vendo, the bottle rack is linkage and mechanical workings are identical to Vendo's design, the bottle door looks similar to a vendo, The door handle is exactly a vendo, The evaporator is a round Cavalier style evaporator but so is my Sv S47. The machine is entirly lined with oak. Selectivend is also made in Kansas city just like Vendo at that time. The old man at Selectivend told me that this machine was actually a proto type that was made by Vendo for Selectivend.

Am I crazy or did I just read that some machines are "lined with oak"? Really??  Learning more everyday about these things.

Yes some selectivends and the vendo 83 and 110 are lines with oak as well as the bottle door is lined with oak.

I had an opportunity to restore a Vendo 110 for a county courthouse.  I really wanted to do it as the money would have been great but I turned it down solely because of the wood frame issue.  I've never dealt with that in a coke machine before.  So rather than potentially screw up a restoration (and my fledgling reputation) I opted to give the county names of two friends, both whom do excellent restorations and have much more experience than I.  How do you go about repairing/replacing this wood?  The machine I saw had wood that was in a bad way.  Rest of the machine was very solid, fairly certain termites "discovered" this machine first.

You would think that one of the Parts Suppliers would have reproduced a generic size that can be cut and shaped to length; but instead of wood, utilize some of the recycled plastic or something similar that is cost effective and won't rot out if there's a leak at some point... There's definately a need!

Good point Jim! The wood is the only reason why I don't restore 110's. And the demand is rising as 81's get more expensive.
