Sorry if I am rehashing any old discussions but this is all new to me. I have a Dixie Narco machine, a 501CC which runs great....except my untility bills have jumped considerably
'> and is currently unplugged.
Recently I acquired a Cav. CS-96-C square corner machine that I have questions about. First, the machine was (free) being discarded so I saved it from the scrap heap.
It isn't in bad shape, it was indoors in an old laundrymat. Lots of dust and it doesn't have the original paint scheme or decals. Someone put wood grain on the small door which after I pulled it off the stenciled lettering was still there.
I need a number of cosmetic items for the machine:
1. The satin stainless steel trim around the door (sides and top) are missing. The left side mounting bracket is gone while the top mounting bracket is intact. The right side bracket is broken in half. Can these be had or is there another acceptable alternative? I know a company called Trim-Lok has chrome adhesive edging available but if there is another alternative I am all ears.
2. The Cavalier logo at the front bottom right is missing the 'C' and I figure the word is about 5"-6" long and 3/4" high.
3. There is no coin mech. What available model will work in this machine?
4. It needs a new lock cylinder. This lock uses two flat bars twisted to lock the access panel closed. Where can I get a new lock cylinder? It is not the press in type for the T lock.
5. Needs a new bottle door handle. It has a plastic handle on it now and it is broken at the top. How difficult is it to replace this? I briefly looked at the door and cannot see how the glass will come out. Looks like the glass is formed into the door. (After looking at the door a second time it appears that by removing the hinge I will be able to slide the back glass out and then remove the spacer and finally the front glass.)
6. I haven't plugged in the machine yet...affraid to have a fire or something...(you know spitzzensparken) etc. Is there anything that should be checked prior to plugging in?
7. Decals, which I guess I can get at funtronics.
8. The plastic around the coin bezel is yellowed, can it be cleaned or can it be replaced?
Other than these items the machine is in fair shape. I will clean it. All the trays are inside.
I have one other question...what are the two brackets in the upper rear corners? They are on and angle, just cusious? I assume they are something to do with trucking.
The machine will have to be refinished, I will remove the door, clean out the parts, sand, prime and repaint. The gaskets look ok, I will clean those up with lacquer thinner, the main door gasket was painted over with red. The bottle door has a white gasket.
Thanks
