Hello,
I aquired a Cavalier 51 about a year ago and am now beginning restoration. There are several internal mechanisim parts I need, Ammo belt, ratchet bracket, spindles, drive link, etc. I had contacted a a guy in the Indy area that did restorations and parts. I believe his name was Steve. I have misplaced his information. Anybody here know of him and how to contact? Any help is appreciated. I live in the Columbus, IN area. Thanks.

Hey Matt,

I can hardly beleive it!!! You live in Bloomington?? So do I! How cool! Where abouts do you live? I live on the southwest side behind Batchelor Middle School.

It's always neat to find somebody that's in-state let alone in the very same town. You might actually be the guy they always mention to me when I buy stuff from South Central AC on the westside.

I recently came across a Cav 51 down in Bedford. They guy purchased the machine missing the typical parts and had the machine repopulated by Harrison Collins next town down in Mitchell. So, I lucked out to get a complete machine.

Oh yeah, the Byal Brothers are out of Indy. Their number is listed in the parts supplier listing on this website.

Thanks for the information. I think perhaps the guys name could have been Randy. The listing sounds familiar, thanks. I imagine I will be a regular here for awhile. Matt, I will probably be contacting you in the near future as I compile a parts list. I have the machine completely torn down. We travel to Bloomington frequently as our daughter is a student living there. She will be beginning grad. school this year. Thanks
Doug

Matt,
Very nice pictures. They help to modivate me. The before pic. of the C-51-G is what I have. These later C-51's had the two color paint scheme. I see that you went with all red on yours. Could that affect the machines value?? I like the all red better, but I also want to stay as original as I can or should. I sure would like to have the hardware lying on the floor in the picture '<img'> I have my parts list completed and may be contacting you soon via e-mail. Also, think you got me mixed up with "Brian" in previous post. He is in Bloomington and knows the South Central guy.
Take care,
Doug

Doug,
Sorry about that.....A good friend of mine looked up the Serial # of the C-51 and it was oringally all Red. You could really tell once you got the 3 coats of house paint off of it. The Value? I sold it for $ 3,500.00 So i don't think it hurt the value to much..... '<img'> Get that list over to me and i will see what i can do. I think i have everything except the belt. There is an auction coming up that i know will have a few belts. ( Linton, In). Thanks for the encouragment.

Matt,

Those machines look great! Who does your paint? When is that auction going down in Linton? I'll probably miss it seeing as how I'm currently in Hawaii untill the 28th of this month for work (NSWC Crane). Knowing my luck, it'll be this coming weekend. Yeah, when I get back, I'll look you up and give you a call. I am looking for the evaporator fan plenum cover that is located inside the cooler for my 51. Mine has some pretty advanced rust and will need to be replaced.

Johnie,

I got the evap motor for my 51 and it looks awesome and works flawlessly! Thanks a ton John! Nope, I didn't end up getting the core back. I'm sure I could if just asked.

Thanks Everyone. The inside liner was painted with Hammerite silver shot through a paint gun. I paint my machines by myself, hand paint all the letters, wording, pin strippping aswell. Yes look me up when you get back, i will be a crane monday.
