Sent the seller of this Cavalier an email asking for model number or confirmation that it'll hold 12oz bottles. Answer that came back was 8oz bottles only. I looked around the machines section here at smc and couldn't find any cavaliers that were listed as only taking 8oz?
Anybody recognize whether this is a USS or CSS 64 or some other model? Are there 1960's slant shelve Cavalier models that only take 8oz bottles?
Thanks!

Bryan, It looks like to me like a uss-64, Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think the USS-64 models will fit the 6 oz/new 8 oz bottles only

Kilroy - that's what is looked like to me also. And the machine section here says only 6.5oz bottles, but in this thread on CSS-64 Dan V said he has a 64 and stocks 12oz bottles in it.
Quote (DanV @ May 23 2005,7:03) | I use my USS-64 daily and this one is even better because it is a USS-96. You will be able to get 7 cans in it per shelf or 8 - 8oz little cokes or 7- 12 oz long necks or 16.9 oz plastic. You can get nice retro stickers that fit over the round knobs from funtronics. The inside is immaculate! 12 different selections too! |
Seller just said model marked on tag is CSS-8-64...

A CSS takes 12 oz bottles. I just bought an IBC rootbeer out of one at an antique mall. The USS does cans and bottles. This one is a CSS. The big difference is that a CSS allows you to pull the bottle out from a little slot where the neck fits through, while a USS allows you to turn a round crank knob that tips either a can or a bottle into an empty space.
This picture is a CSS and I bet it is from 1971-1973 era

Thanks Dan - It is in fact a CSS-8-64 (according to the seller). Now that I know it'll take 12oz, I think I'll push a little harder.

Hey
I solved that drive to pick up coke machines. I sent my 16 year old son & one of his football buddies! Two high school boys on a road trip across the state of SC to pick up a Vendo 126.

Totally delusional reserve. If it was a USS, maybe, but for a CSS in average condition, you're right to take a pass. They'll be calling you in about five days or so...
