Coming in a little late...

Joined a while back and have frustrations finding things or better yet, returning to posts can be cumbersome... Not trying to sound biased; however, I do notice the people willing to help are far less apparent compared with SMC. For me, I fumble around and try to have fun...  Unfortunately, this is the new technology for people gathering and will eventually push Forums to the side...

Agree, Very sad that FB is slowing traffic on useful forums. FB Search functions are poor at best. I don't need or want 30+ "likes"when posting a question. It is very important to support this and other forums to keep the very capable search engines still available to get answers. On that note Jim you need anything to keep this one alive? Best All!

Never joined Facebook and have no desire to start now.  It's nothing but a huge time vacuum.

All of my friends couldn't understand why I wouldn't join, like I was missing out on some great thing.  Over the years, I've lost count on the number of stories I've heard from them about getting in arguments over the stupidity that is posted there and ruining relationships.  I enjoy coming to small sites like this to share hobbies & interests with like minded people :happydrinkers:.  I have absolutely no interest in Facebook.

I know myself, and am easily distracted, so never wanted to "go down the rabbit hole" and get drawn in to all the drama.

I'm no expert on FB but I enjoy some of the various groups.......but like Jim said and I hope it doesn't become true that new technology will drive forums like this one away. I'm still very much a newbie at this hobby and I'll never be the collector that some of you have become. I'm very much appreciative of all the help I get from this site! I hope it never goes away!

Like everything else in life, Facebook has both it's ups and downs. Many groups out there, too many really. You have good people and not so good people. Lot of self promoters. By that I mean people with knowledge who don't care to share it, only if it benefits themselves. I try to help when I can. If we don't help the newbies this hobby will never grow. Slapshot Jared is very generous with his time and to helping others. Also very direct. Haha.

I find it interesting not to be on sites but to follow collectors personal page. You can learn a lot about someone by what they post, again both good and bad.

At least SMC is about the only site that doesn't have Carl BEST IN THE USA, sleepwalk Coates on it so I'm very grateful for that.

Couldn't have said it better myself.  The FB groups are fun to see what people are finding and so forth but there are a lot of vultures who will quickly tell someone the machine is not worth fixing and then try to swoop in and buy it.  I don't see that behavior on SMC and I appreciate the assistance that people are will to give and knowledge they are willing to share. On FB a lot of people seem to be out for themselves.

My two cents anyway!
