I am working on a Cavalier machine and ran across an odd cooling problem. The machine would not get cold enough, cutting in and out too quickly, no matter where the t-stat was set  Tried 2 NOS Cavalier t-stats with the same results. T-stat probe was is in the evaporator coil, in the tube as all Cavalier machines I remember are.
Just for an idea, I pulled out the probe and placed  it about 2 inches away and instantly stopped the on/off problem and the temperature went down 6* with the T-stat set on about 4.
Any insight on this is welcome, Thanks in advance.   Greg
