Seeburg jukebox

Yea, I know it's off topic here at Soda-machines.com, but I also know that a few of you people are also into 'Jukes, so here's what I found, it's a  SeeBurg S87 selectaphone, I'd say from the mid 30's, it plays 12- 78's it's complete & works.. so what can you tell me about it? I repair old tube radios, but know little about juke boxes...

Iknow a bit about juskeboxes but this is way too early for me to know anything. I basically know the Seeburg G,C,R,B models. Sorry.

Are you looking to purchase or have you already took possession...?
I've personally never owned a box from the 30's but did own a Wurlitzer 700,which is from 1941, but gathering from this experience, these boxes are ALL mechanical and somewhat easy to work/tinker on with your "mechanical hat" on... This box is too old for me to have the manual; my Seeburg Manuals start at the 146 - 148, the Trashcans as they'll commonly called...
These boxes haven't really appreciated as much as the later models unless it's a rare model, which this may be... I have an opportunity to buy a Wultizer 1100 that is in excellent original condition, but my bank account hasn't had a deposit from the Collectible Gremlins in some time...
The 1100 is one of my favorite boxes!

My friend in a local vending business is getting ready to retire soon & I've listed some of his older syuff on ebay, candy machines, pinballs, gum machines, so basically I'm fishing for a starting point with this one I've tried researching it, but can't get a handle on the production & rarity, I've never seen an earlier one like this (completed anyway) the center red bar ( celulite) lights up to..takes nickels for one play, or a dime for three( I have an option to buy if I desire) he's also got a sweet restored 60's T-bird loaded that's going to go up too( in time for the Woodward dream cruise) he'g go a real nice Adams 1-cent gum machine that's to die-for  '> , & lots of cigarrete machines...an dno , you'll never get it out of me where he's located, I get to paw thru his basement first!

Neat machine (little too old though for my blood).  I have a Seeburg book somewhere at home that has information on each juke.  Let me see if I can round it up.

Have you tried the books "Silent Salesmen" or "Silent Salesmen Too"? http://www.gameroommagazine.com/bk_silentsales.htm
They are real good references for machines like that.

Looks to me like a 1936 Seeburg Symphonola Model "B"

My Jukebox Price Guide does not even list a price for it (plus it has a typo of saying 10 records instead of 12).

Your grill is a little different from the pictures, but all of the other details match.

Thanks Dr.G' I appreciate it! yea, other than the grill, (This one has a translucent red light-up center bar) it looks dead-on.( perhaps a "deluxe model" ) I can't wait to see what else he drags up out of the storage room... '> ..He & his dad have been in business for over 60 years...

His Dads retired (in his 80's) the son is still running the vending business, only does soda & snack machines now, they used to do it all, arcade games, gumballs, pooltables, cigarette machines, anything coinop from the looks of it...

I've sold a verticle U-select-it candy machine & some older 50's national cigarette machines , and a stoner gum-arm for him, & he's the guy who sold me the Cole-Spa 6A cup machine (in the soda-machine section) two years back or so...

Have you thought about submitting some photos of these items to the International Arcade Museum? I have a number of my gumball machines pictured there.  The Adams Gum machine that you were showing needs a picture http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=460
I also found it pictured in my Silent Salesmen book.  1987 price on this 1937 machine is $50.  '>

Thanks for the info! $50 bucks huh? I don't really think so.. ???you can't even touch a cheapy Ford-Gum machine for that!  
or for that matter a Victor-Topper either, but it is a nice desription of the machine, & the picture doesn't do it justise.
