Cavalier cd6

I recently purchased a Cavalier CD6 soda machine.  It had been unused for many years prior.  The problem I am having is that when the money is inserted, the machine automatically  drops a can from the # 5 slot.  If the cans run out the release mechanism is still activated with nothing dropping out.  I was wondering if it could be a problem with the alternator or the solenoid.  If not, any suggestions?

Although this may not be easy, I recommend attempting to locate a manual for this model machine. I think it would be invaluable for trouble-shooting this problem.
