Seeing the other post makes me wonder...what have you guys done to your machines and such. Have you transformed it into something wild, useful, useless?

I was going to convert a gas pump to an aquarium but never got around to doing it.

Anybody?

I'm sure someone here has a old issue of the CLUB SODA magazines... but there was a W-12? (bowout Coke Chest) converted to a go-cart. Was nice looking, and
the model standing beside it when the picture was taken wasn't bad either... Pics anyone?... I think my wife threw my copy away...

I used a Westinghouse chest cooler that was gutted for a mobile stand for my Big Green Egg smoker, I use it all the time!

April 1998 Club Soda Magazine.
You're never going to score big with details because Dan used fairly heavily screened photos. State of the art for the time I guess.

Issue #20
He incorporated an ice chest " under the hood" for refreshment while driving. It had an 8 hp motor and actually drove.

If you think about it there is so much you can do with them.

Although some may frown doing it to any piece... glare

There isn't much else to do with these bow sided coolers. They used to make really cool motorcycle trailers out of them, but I haven't seen one for a while.

Yep.. that's the issue... that cooler is so... cool... I think I have all my issues also... Even when it was called
Soda Pop Press... I think a member here was the dad to the little girl holding the Cherry Smash dispenser on
front of one of the issues... Now they are boxed up somewhere... the want ads were fun to read through...
loved the spot light collections and seeing what folks had collected... You couldn't wait till the next issue...
to see what would be found next. the internet sure changed all that... Thanks for posting! happydrinkers

I have them all. Do you know an easy method of scanning, or just page by page?

If you can get a digital camera on a stand pretty fast to just take pics of the pages. I'm working on doing the same with early 50's car custom mags. PITA but these things are worth saving and sharing.

There are maybe 15-20 pages per magazine, and 41 issues.  Seems like a daunting task but I will do it ( when I can) if there is a desire for them. I can photo and copy certain articles if people want them.

Jees,
That is a bunch. Maybe just a scan of a few that are interesting today?
Same problem with the car mags. Very cool stuff but no longer can one go to a junkyard get a mercury motor order Offy bits for the top end to put in a T or 32 Ford.
Would be great to see. But sure understand having better things to do.

For the sake of chronology, Cormy, your pic is of Vol 1, #2.
My first pic is Vol 1#1 and published by Brian (I forgot his last name) from Camino, CA Dec 1995
Vol 1#4 is when Dan Quate took over and changed the name to Club Soda. It was a flat finish magazine at that time
After #5 there were no "Volumes" and the issues just continued consecutively.
With issue #7 the magazine started coming out monthly.
Issue #22 from June 1998 is when he started using slick paper and a little better quality.
Issue #22 also contains the story of my Whistle Quikold Standard, (my avatar)
I have them up to #38, then skip to #41 (January 2000). Not sure where my missing issues went and I believe that was about the end of the magazine. Quate had been working on a huge guide to soda machine collecting with 275 pages. He was taking orders ( I paid for one)
Not too long after that Things went haywire, Jeff Walters left the hobby, and I don't know where Mr Quate went.
I really wish that book had been published. It touted over 350 machines, 50 of which had never been published previously. I Wonder if the raw material still exists and how far he got into the book before it all ended. The expected release date was 2/1/2000.

Wow those are some good magazines. Those would be nice to see more of. Let me know if you guys compile a bunch of scans please.

I figured Id post pictures of something repurposed since I didn't want to keep in the theme of hijacking this thread. lol

That's a great one, plus, you can lock up your own shampoo and toothbrush so they are safe  laugh
I'll bet this will suck on moving day though.
