Collecting Ideal Sliders

« on: November 12, 2015, 06:16:43 pm »

Looking for a qualified party to give me a written value of this Ideal 55 Coca Cola. Stripped to the shell and reassembled. Belt buckle plate is original. Ken restored compressor. Script perfectly hand painted then clear coated. Nice machine.

Nice machine. Did you take the pics with a cell phone?

Can't offer you a written value (I assume you are looking for an appraisal?) but I was offered $4,500 for my embossed Ideal Coke.

I hope you didn't take it. That's way too low, at least for out here.

Where is "out here" ?

I think 4500 for a restored ideal 55 is a solid offer.  Although not common, when they have sold (mine included) for less than 2k... factor in the resto etc.... and I think 4500 is a pretty good deal for both.

Although I wouldn't sell my original Coke 55, unless I had another one ready to buy lol

Phoenix.
$4500 is the price for a properly restored RC, Barq's, Squirt, Canada Dry.  Double Cola and Orange Crush higher, Coke higher still, less for 7up and Pepsi, Nesbitt's.

I think $4,500 is very high for just about all of the above. One will never get $4,500 for a RC or a Barqs, Squirt, or Canada Dry. Sure anything is possible but the $4,500 range is high for just about any restored Slider, IMO. Agree Orange Crush higher and Coke, and 7up, Pepsi, and Nesbitt's being less.

I have seen way more Ideal Coca Cola's than Barqs, Double Cola, Orange Crush Slider Machines!!  Those ALL have to be pretty close in value IMO!

You would be surprised some very nice sliders by good restorers have sold in the high 4k's no problem!  These aren't the common ones like 7up, RC Cola, etc.  Were talking the big guns like Orange Crush, Hires, and few other collectible ones!

I felt like it was a fair offer, but I just wasn't ready to sell it at that point.  I'd love someone to offer me $5k+ for it but I just don't see that happening unless I find someone who really needs it to complete his/her collection of sliders.

I can vouch for Jim getting offered $4500 for his, as I had the buyer lined up to purchase it for that price if Jim was willing to sell.

I think Rod sold one a couple years ago for $4800.

Properly restored, they bring that kind of money for a Coke or OC.

As a side note, I was offered $5000 for my embossed OC and passed....Same thing as Jim...I wasn't ready to sell.

For a embossed Coca-Cola Ideal 55 properly restored should bring between $4,800 and $5,500.

Collecting Ideal Sliders

I guess I have a good market here? I've seen lots of "properly restored" machines...pretty subjective. I do feel I go the extra mile on mine.
Maybe that's why I can get a little more. I don't know. I still don't make any money on them, even at the higher price. Smiley
