All - I would like to thank everyone that has answered my beginner questions in regards to my first 81 machine. Attached you will find pictures of my all original 81. I am leaning to the side of not restoring but instead of fixing what is needed. Would love to hear your thoughts. When I plug it in, both fans seem to work fine, although it doesn't get below 50 degrees in a 75 degree room.

Nice original - enjoy. Remember only original once, plus with that nice looking you'll enjoy using it more instead of fearing messing up paint on a restored machine.

Nice survivor... I vote to leave as it is.. Hard to find in that condition...
I've noticed in the gas and oil world of collecting many are starting to leave the pumps as they find them and others are doing what they call "rustoration" where they clean them up the best they can, address any rust issues, then paint and faux finish to get the paint to split and peel to look old like it came right off the pump island.
I have 3 machines currently, all as is, too nice to restore... I know some time you have too but in your case, don't do it. Killer find.

Seems like the trend is to avoid high restoration costs by not restoring a nice original machine. Back in the 90s a great original would "look terrible" next to a shiny restored machine.

The key to displaying a nice original is never display it next to a restored machine. No matter how nice original it is, a properly restored one will always outshine an original. Paint is so much better now then it was 60+ years ago.
