It all started with a stroll through the parking lot at the fall Chicago show with Matt (Mcarter). This is where we stumbled upon a early 1900's Holcomb and Hoke Popcorn Machine. This yearly stroll with him always seems to empty my wallet and always leaves me with something big to ship. biggrin It was just to cool of a piece to pass up so after a little persuasion I purchased it. As I was trying to figure out how I was going to get it to Jim at the Popcorn Machine Museum, Brian (seven187) said he would be happy to drop it off. He did that for me and Jim worked his magic over the last several months getting it up and running. This past week Brian was coming out this way and dropped off the finished machine. I am just thrilled with the way it turned out. I just wanted to share something a little different with the group. A big thanks to Matt for persuading me to buy and the referral. Thanks to Jim for getting it up and running and of course a big thanks to Brian for all the logistics. I find this to be the best part of this website. You meet great people become friends over the years and help each other all in the name of collecting and preserving our history. happydrinkers

Seth that's a nice machine gonna look good in your new room. I hope to find a nice popcorn peanut roaster someday for my collection. I'm with you I like the unusual and rare stuff. These guys and gals on here are so helpful I agree.

In an earlier post, Tom gave a link to Jim's museum. Beautiful machines!

Thanks for the comments guys! I love sharing new finds with you all as well as seeing yours. Eric, here is the only before picture I have as we loaded it in Brian's truck. The base with the owl is a stand I already had. Jim told Brian he believed it was in the 1920's era. The model made after mine had the light up Butterkist Globe and it did add a nice touch. Kinda wish mine had it.

Awsome piece to add to your collection. Great story how it was brought back to life. Always great to see an old piece brought back to life.

did anyone take a photo of the Peanut warmer cart on wheels at the last Chicago show.. I saw it and for some reason didn't take a photo, and went back and it was gone.
pretty cool peanut warmer on steel wheels.. was in rough shape but could have been cool.. guy was asking like 1800 for it.. so I didn't think on it too long and walked away,, only to go back for the "2nd look" and it was gone. it could have been this model, only not restored nice like this and missing the wooden box.  now after finding this image, I wish I would have bought it.

Sorry John, I saw it but didn't take a pic.

I saw the owner walking it out of the show and it was barely hobbling along. A few of us commented that he shouldn't roll it and put it on a cart instead as it looked like it would break any second and collapse in the parking lot.

That is a cool piece. It does seem that if you do see something unique at the show buy it right away. Otherwise it will be gone when you come back. Happened to me twice at the first Chicago show I went too. I learned my lesson quick. I also learned that it may show up 2 rows away for double the price a little while later. Lol.
