Removing antique scotch tape

Greetings everyone,
Who has a neat trick for removing fossilized, hard scotch tape from the painted front of the machine.  So far I am having slow success with goof off, my finger nail and elbow grease.  It works, but is arduously slow.  Any tips would be appreciated.

Lighter fluid, the kind you put in a zippo not on the grill, has worked for me in the past.

I used a heat gun on low and a plastic spatula to remove quite a bit of reinforced strapping tape on a machine. Then used goof off on the residue.

I have used WD40 to remove tape, stickers and residue. Let is soak in for a bit.

Your hilarious.  Though I did catch an antique carburator on fire once while holding it.  I discovered a very effective mans of clearing up old gas deposits.
