Does anyone own a 10/10 original? Care to share any pics or has anyone even seen one. Maybe on ebay being that everything pops up there at some point.
Would you say this would be a machine that never made it to circulation.

I'd be hard pressed to say that finding a perfect original Vendo 81d or any 81 for that fact will be tough... all depends on what you determine your rating factor on.
I have what I consider a very nice clean original that I use every day in the house... but it's not a 10.. but I'd say a strong 8 for sure...has some blemishes, small scratches, but not huge dents. side graphics are slightly faded, etc...
but finding a 10 near mint original might be tough...

I have an 81d which was in use in a barber shop for a month when the owner died and the building was boaded up. It looks like it was never used.

I've got a buddy that has a Pepsi 81 that was found in the back room of a Laundry Mat. It was used for a little over a year before the place was closed up and forgotten about for decades. It is by far the nicest unrestored Pepsi 81 that I've seen.

I know baseball cards now have a grading system where a 10 card is gem mint. My point is even a card that is a 8 or higher looks like a 10. To find a 10 machine I think it would have to be NOS but if you look for a 8 or higher I think you would be happy. The D you just got is pretty damn nice. The holes on the side are a bummer yes but the rest of the machine is very nice.

Thanks Mygoose, now "one is in the pocket" while I hunt for the grade higher , then sell the other. trade up. My hunch is for high grade/condition may need to come from here, collectors.

This is about as close to a 10 that I have... I would say 9.2. It is missing a trim pc on the side, and has a few minor scuffs near the bottom.
I also have a VMC 72 that is about a 9 in my books.... no pic of that as I am at work

Do you have a pic or two of this machine for educational purposes, I understand it won't be hitting the market.

I didn't really need to buff the machine much.... it was an indoor machine its entire life, but really it was stored away longer than it was in use (from what was told to me).
The guys I bought it from bought it from an estate sale where the owned had passed away, and the kids were selling everything at a yard sale.... these guys bought it for a few hundred.... then flipped it to me.
What I did use was a cleaning compound and then a wax to buff it up.
