Picked this up yesterday, only took me 15 hours round trip. Friends say I'm crazy, but I believe I got a nice original. Started to detail it, however got to get some goof off as there is old tape and other sticky residue on it. The bezel is very nice for an original. Plugged it in, unfortunately it doesn't cool..that's what I figured after I saw a service tap. Any recommendations as to where to send it would be greatly appreciated. UPDATE: Replaced thermostat - works fantastic.

very nice. Please tell me you were going to leave it as an original? Have the letters been redone? They look a little thicker than usual.

Leaving it original.. I think nothing has been touched on it... Only thing I'm replacing is the door liner and the door gasket...

My guess. Rough to average unrestored $3,000. Nice original $5,000. Restored $8,500.

Rather not say, but I felt it was a nice original for its age. However I'm going to guess it doesn't cool as it has a service tap on it which means I'll need to find some R-12

I had this machine offered to me last Monday as well, Seller said he was looking for value as he was selling for his Father.. I shot him an offer on it but at the time didn't know where it was located and never heard back from the seller. I guess my offer wasn't the right offer Glad it got picked up by someone on the board! Congrats! where did you have to go to get it / Just curious?

Oh wow.. yeah I wasn't going to make that drive.. the offer I made him was figuring I'd have to pay 400+ to ship it from most places.. and the photos he sent me make it look pretty rough.. you did a great job on the cleanup... it does look like a real nice original ... as others have said, no need for paint job on this one.. clean up the inside, maybe redo insulation, gaskets, wiring and you've got yourself a nice original. Congrats!

Well machine doesn't cool - figured that would be the case from the service refill installed on it.

Oddly enough it was missing, unsure why it was removed.

The coin mechanism at some point could of been switched and they lost or forgot to put the backplate back on...

Pretty Close - and it doesn't cool so I need to get the system refurbished, not restored as I want to try and keep it as close to original as possible.

Nice Find. It is great when a clean original pops up.... and a Pepsi 81 is a hard one to find. Good Job.

Replaced Thermostat today after some trouble shooting, working like a charm on #2 and cooling down to 37 degrees.

I sold my Pepsi 81 for $3000 a few years ago. It was a clean original machine complete and cooling. Thought it was an O.K. deal. Didn't have to pay e-bay or paypal fees which was even better.
