Was very fun today. Heard the theme song from the "Sting" and ringing bells. Had to go see what the noise was all about.
This young man invested in a 1964 Dodge truck and is out bringing back fond memories. Not big on ice cream but bought some anyway.
Pics ASAP.

We have "snow-cone" trucks here in Central PA.  Sometimes we get two in the neighborhood at the same time in the summer.  Waiting for a rumble.   laugh

Don't have too many of those in these parts.

I'm amazed there are still any running routes. Ice cream is so expensive these days, it might be cheaper to buy the truck and forget the ice cream.  darn

We got one that comes through my neighborhood. He looks like a perverted old man. Every time he goes by he has this "Ice cream little girl" look on his face. It's creepy......

I still have one that comes around every so often...
Never know when she's coming, but she does appear out of the blue...

On that note, came across this article recently about the classic ice cream truck song most of us probably remember...not exactly the lyrics you'd expect!

Quite a few of them. All the time. They come up the streets, cruise through the parking lots at baseball and soccer fields, and by the pools.

Over here its very much part of the culture. in the summer they are everywhere.
There is one outside my daughter's school that's there every day of the year rain shine or snow.

In Scotland they had Ice cream wars. the vendors were selling a lot more than just Ice Cream..

We have one that's a yellow van. We hear or see it at least once a week, but we do live by a park.

We had a beat up truck that came around last summer, but he could not come to our side of the street because of a Scottsdale law aimed at preventing those type sales (Phoenix is on the other side). Drove my kids crazy seeing him always turn and never come to our side! I think I read (or saw a news story) last year stating that the law was repealed, but have seen nothing so far this year.

We have them too (Schwans). My parents bought from them when I was a kid in Ohio (1980s) and we still buy from them in VA now. It's different from the "ice cream man" who drive around with the songs playing though.

Yeah Schwans... sorry for the spelling.. Yeah not quite like the guy that drives the white van with all the decals and creepy clown music, we have him too.. I was just throwing out all we have here
I remember when I was in college and just married, I ran the Schwans guy down and bought a six pack of ice cream sandwiches and ate them all that afternoon
before the wife got home but she found the empty box in the trash.. busted!
Then way back when I was a kid we had a old guy that drove this little 2 man car thing.. like what the parking meter folks use to drive... He drove through everyday during the summer selling snow cones had this little hand bell he rang and out we'd run snow cones where .25 awesome... Would love to have that little car thing....had like a little truck bed on the back... he had it all set up
was pretty cool... this would have been early to mid 1970s...

Ya nothing special around here but a person that has a beat up old econoline van with ice cream stickers stuck all over it. Kinda lame. I remember back in the day working on an legit ice cream truck with my friends dad. I thought it was the best thing ever. The best part was the sound that bell made when we pulled the rope. SCHING SCHING! It was a distinctive sound unlike any other and when the kids heard it they knew exactly what it was and they came running.
