Well, this site has inspired me

While I have several machines, decided to try to restore one with my 16 year old son
As summer project of sorts

Eric from Global Compressors was great- Easy removal of old compressor and will be on its way to texas
I found an auto body shop willing to do the painting- Any idea on fair price to repaint the machine-Just the outside, my son and I will clean and paint the inside with hammertone

Also, any pearls on removing the bottle stack.
Top bolts just seem to spin and do not loosen

IS there an easy way to make it free play ?
Tired of looking for change

'doc, why would you want 'free-play'? The FUN of a vending machine is to hear the coin mech and the solenoid, and to see the "Have A Coke" light up. Otherwise, it just becomes a red & white refrigerator!

We just keep a cup of dimes on top of ours and keep recycling the same ones.  Agree that the fun of the machine is the vending mech.  I would plan to spend about $600-$700 for a good paint job and minor body work.

Fun Machine to restore, we use ours every day. I did however add the free vend but often find myself switching back and forth. Comes down to owner preference. glare

Getting ready to go to paint shop.
Hope can remember how to put it back together

Still having trouble getting out the bottle stack
Looks like 2 bolts to left of the rack but with 3/8 bolt. When use wrench, it just spins and  spins and spins

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Can you drill the bolt out, and re tap the threads?  Or try spraying some penetrating solution on the threads see of that loosens them up...

I'm guessing the knurled nuts on the tank are spinning.
You should be able to remove the 4 nuts in the rear and pull both the liner and stack out together.

Thanks for the tip
and for keeping me honest
I was hoping to just take out the rack but leave liner and stanky insulation in place
I guess I should really restore rather than "repaint"

I did take off the edge moulding and try to hold back of the bolt but will be easier to work "outside the box"
