I have a solenoid problem, i had to change one because it burned, cause it stayed on for quite long time (about 5 minutes), because it looked like something was stuck and the solenoid make a funny sound all the time it was on till it burned. I change the solenoid today for a brand new one from Soda Jerks, and it did the same thing again, but it push out the mechanism like it suppose to be, but still make a funny sound and it's stay's on again, it stop went i pull out the cord from the wall Put back the cord in the wall, it,s OK doesn't make noise but the vending doesn't unlock and if i try to put money it just pass thru, if i make a refund, it works again if i put back money, the same funny sound again and have to pull the cord out to make it stop
Does anyone have any idea what can cause the problem ?
Thank you

The vending solenoid isn't designed to be energized 100% of the time, (as you've found out) so you might have a bad carrier switch, or a coinmech issue, or even a short in the vending trigger line ( pin #3 on the coinmechs female socket ( also called the "Jones" plug & socket).
Power up the machine and then unplug the coinmech to see if the solenoid stays energized with the coinmech unplugged, if it does, you may have a short between #1 & #3 pins inside the female socket ( #1 is hot/120volts all the time, it provides power to the coinmech to trigger the vending solenoid)
If it does not stay energized, then you probably have a stuck/shorted vend switch inside your coinmech, or a stuck carrier switch or toggle mechanism for the carrier switch/have a coke light, such as a broken return spring. the vend switch is supposed to release the coinmechs "ready to vend" line (socket #7 on the Jones socket) to stop the coinmech from accepting any coins until a bottle is pulled from the stack. but it is possible for it to short to pin #3 & cause the vending solenoid to stay on & overheat.

Spoon-feeding Newbies since 2001... Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes. Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon! The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor 11 is louder than 10... "Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

Hi I have a USS-12-96 and now when I drop in a coin all I get is a short loud buzz, is that also a bad vending solenoid?

Could be, but it also could be jammed. Best way to troubleshoot is to pull out the vending rack, tip it forward and leave the wiring attached, to see if the solenoid is moving freely.

Regarding the PM, where I can't attach a photo, here's a photo of the springs and how the chain is held.

There should be a chain (bike chain like) running down the column, do you see anything like that? That is what that spring should attach to, it is what pulls each vending tumbler back into the upright position after each turn.

Tkaz, Thanks to your pic I see where both springs came from.one end of the longer spring is hooked to what looks like the start of the 5th link and I think is there to act as tensioner. Is the other end hook to the long screw next to the switch?
Thanks Ray

Tkaz
Cool and thanks again!! I emailed both Soda Jerks and Fun-Tronics, hopefully one of them will carry the springs!

Looks like both your springs are there but might have broken ends...I have applied heat to the ends to stretch some then re-bent with a pair of pliers.
