Here's something I thought was rather strange, a VMC-27 with a non-split coin door. I've never seen one before. It's on eBay in Pittsburgh, PA.

I'm thinking he must have made a VMC33 one-piece coin door work on this machine, but I'm not certain. Did VMC ever offer a 27 with a single piece coin door?

Although all 27's are non embossed I believe it was offered in a Pepsi. Was the 27 "B". I thought it was only offered on the enclosed stand. If that was the case this is a Pepsi 27 B made into a Coke and put on a Coke Pipestand.

Too bad this great combination has such a poor restoration. For a $3,500 restoration his money should have bought him a much better job.

So this coin door is probably original to the machine, but the branding is not?

Another authenticity check is to check the cabinet with a magnet.
Almost all Coca-Cola 27's were aluminum whereas Pepsi used steel...
Does the ID tag have a "PC" in the model number?
I would lean towards a converted Pepsi Machine...

My six cents,

The solid and split doors are NOT interchangeable. The solid door has larger radius corners than the split.

On a similar subject, there are some good parts in Illinois, not only a 33 drum............. but a change giving coin mech.  happydrinkers

Not only that, but the single door uses a gasket that is installed in a recess around the perimeter whereas the split doors have a slight outward roll on the perimeter.

Can you take a picture of the inside ?
The coke versions had a plate on the back wall of the unit behind the coke bottles.
The Pepsi version did not, as the original Pepsi bottles where longer than the cokes.

That would be on the 33's. The countertop units have a compressor there, but the Pepsi inner liner is deeper than the Coke.

I'm sorry, I got in such a hurry and didn't clarify. I don't actually own the machine, somebody has it up for sale on eBay. I placed the eBay URL in the top post, but didn't give it much prominence.

My apologies. Here's a picture of the machine's side

Glen your right, I took a look on my 27 Dual, and 33, they have the backing plate, but I guess the counter top versions did not.

Cheers, Shane
