I finally finished assembly of my Hires 55. Dean the body man and painter did an outstanding job on it and makes it really stand out. The powder coating was done by a fellow member and the new parts were purchased from Soda Jerk Works and Funtronics. I restored the condensing unit and did the assembly work and without the work of the previous folks it would not have turned out as nice as it did.

Ken...looks great!

OK...i'll give the details/credit/background....

Johnie G once owned this Hires slider originally, who sold it to Kilroy, who sold it to me, who then sold it to Ken for the magic to happen!

I met Dean (the Hires painter) in Cleveland via ebay who I bought a few 35's from. He owns a body shop and does incredible work!  Dean did an awesome paint job...top notch!

Ken, Dean and I soon become even better friends, and many restorations have taken place since our initial meeting! Dean just finished painting my embossed orange crush 55 which Ken is restoring/reassembling for me. Can't wait to see it!

Dave Wojcik did an awesome job blasting and powder coating the tub for Ken. Top notch work!

I currently own another embossed Hires slider that I traded for from Detroit Dave...I can only hope it turns out this nice when Dean/Ken are done with it! I've got a few more machines in the hopper, but will eventually look great...I hope!!!

Congrats Ken!

Thanks for the compliments everyone, I guess I have a couple questions to answer. Dean the painter had total control on color and graphics. The logo's are custom made then clear coated over several times so it's hard to tell they are decals. The lid is stainless and was purchased from Funtronics,  I peeled the protective plastic off it a few minutes before taking the pics and didn't even wipe the lid down. The best part of this is my wife has picked out a place in the kitchen for it so it will be moving in tomorrow when my son is home to help me move it.

Very, very nice Ken! Looks incredible. Also, I can't believe the wife let you have it in the kitchen. I haven't been able to get one in the house yet.

He literally had the original graphics scanned from the front of the machine so whatever the font was it was original to the machine. I'm pretty sure he had an extra set made and his decal guy saved the artwork. I can contact him if you need a set made.

That's alright I thought if it was a full true type font family it would be good to have... Sounds like he scanned and built a vector file... thanks though
for asking... that would be a great file to keep handy if another one pops up!
Thanks again!

Ken,

I'm going to restore my hires one day, so I will contact Dean for the extra set of decals you mentioned. He'll be painting it just like yours...

I love it!

Thanks.
