30/50.... you've got a valve knocked out or you've broken high side line,
inside the "can" and probably happened during the "recharge".

I'm sure someone on here, can help you out, if you want it done "right"...

Eric - He seemed to do everything as I've read described here - he used a leak detector and found a leak on the low suction side near the evap.  He fixed that, added ports high and low side, and vacuumed to 500 micron.  It held the vacuum.

He installed a new dryer and refilled with 1lb of R12.

When he came back to look at it, he ran the leak test again (with the specialized tool) and detected nothing.

You say the high line could be broken - INSIDE the can??

correct.... inside the can.

if you have a "static" pressure of 50 psi on both
sides, and you crank it up with the pressure only
pulling down 5 or 10 psi, then you have a "bypass"
inside... either the discharge line, valve, or head gasket.

Yes as Eric said, your freon is running round-robin inside the can & getting nowhere fast.  I agree it sounds like a leak back via the head gasket...."It's Dead Jim"

Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes.
Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon!

Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor

"Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

Nope - still here.  Hopefully have sourced another compressor from a member here...  took a break from the machine over Christmas to redirect soda money to kids Christmas presents!

I haven't given up yet.

Don't know what the problem is with this 39 but the worst I have been stumped is when my slider held a vacuum and charged up but would not cool. Changed compressor same problem. Ended  up being the tube that ran around the can was stopped up.
