Seeing that pic of the Ajax Hot Nut vending machine makes me wonder...Is there a Vending machine/gumball/peanut reference guide that is still in print? Seems like I remember one from about 25+ years ago but I wonder if there is another.
Thanks,
Terry

Anyone know where you can get a direct replacement heater coil for these? Not sure if that is correct terminology. I know I can make something but would rather have it more original. Thanks Seth

That's what I also heard Dave. The vendor I bought it from said there was asbestos used in them so he always removes them. I will let you know if I find a safe replacement.

Good topic... would be great to find a replacement heater... from what I recall they where asbestos and just some wrapped wires around the asbestos material that fastened to the bottom of each chamber.. they where super brittle when I removed mine..
wonder if a light bulb would generate enough heat to transfer through?

I was thinking of a light bulb also but then I started thinking heat tape. Not sure if they make real short pieces. I don't have the machine yet to look at the configuration so I don't even know if it's a viable option. I also wonder if it would be enough heat? I'm not sure how hot that stuff gets.

I have wire that is used on walk in freezer doors that get pretty warm to keep the door from freezing shut. If some one can tell me how long the heater wire is I can cut lengths of it and see how long it holds up and if it would be warm enough.

Thanks Ken. That would be awesome if you wouldn't mind. I don't have my machine yet though. Brian should be bringing it in a couple weeks. If someone else has an Ajax Nut machine and wouldn't mind checking out the length of wire needed that would be much appreciated. If not I will let you know as soon as I get it. It would be awesome to find a good safe alternative heat source to warm my nuts.  laugh

Ironic my aquarium heater turned on as I was reading this. Anyone think that might work?

Haha Jim.  laugh  I never thought of a aquarium heater. Would be nice because you could adjust heat level.  Not sure the size or configuration would work though. I will take a look into that idea also. Thanks
