Hey, guys, looking at this one that's kinda close to home. Advertised as a fully functional Vendo 39 (and the bottle loading decal inside door states Vendo-39). It just doesn't match what I found on this site for a vendo 39.....basically a cooler with a coin op on top. Guy wants $999. What do you gents think about this?
Thanks, Chris

I've never found the legendary $500-600 V39's in my neck of the woods, let alone one that cools and looks to have the coin mech but it depends on how much you want it. it's a Vendo 39 for sure, looks to have been painted Pepsi blue at some point in it's life.

It's the earlier version because it has the ribbed coin door and bottom "ice cold" is embossed.

If it's complete and cools, and if the body is not damaged from all that scraping etc.... then make him an offer of say 800.... sure you might find one for 800 in a little better shape cosmetically, but if your intention is to restore it, I don't see the difference. Finding a complete working 39 below 800 is hard to do, unless you're in the know, or go to many shows and can strike a deal etc... For the average guy, looking on CL or Ebay, they don't get any cheaper.

Nice ones pop up in Kc all day for 1 k . That one looks complete so 800.00 would be a good deal .

Yes that's one I found on this site. The other 39 didn't have a photo but the description was similar.
What do you guys think of the 39 as a machine?
Thanks, Chris

People are turned off that it it is a single vend machine. the 8 oz coke bottles are relatively easy to find for it, it seems to be what many people think of when you tell them 50's coke machine. Doesn't take up a lot of space. It comes down to personal preference. I regret selling my 30's , so I am slightly biased. Parts are readily available for it, including the Sprite Boy decal

The recent photo posted appears to be a Vendo V-59 For clarification, the Vendo 39 Standard and Vendo V-39 are drastically different machines as you can see when reviewing the links. Hopefully helpful...

I picked up an early model V-39 for $550 last year on local Craigslist. Was repainted long ago with only a so-so job at best, but it cools, has minimal rust issues and looks good from a distance. Have since added the crank handle and it makes a nice conversation piece in my office. I like the looks of the 39 a lot but probably would never restore it as the payback wouldn't be there. I think they are the ideal first machine - reasonable price, roundtop appeal, and cool large letter embossing. With a bit of patince you can find one.

I agree. The Vendo 39 is a great first piece while on your journey to the "round top" world.

I would hold out, he'll come down on price as there won't be many people willing to shell out a grand for a machine in that shape. I'd offer $700 at most if you are looking to restore it.
