I just got home from picking up this Vendo 56 decorator door. This thing is so ugly it is neat. I was just going to part it out since it has all but two shelves and a working cooling system, but I am thinking about doing something with it. It is in great shape but the plastic wood looking pannel on the front is cracked and distorted. It is just a pannel that slides into the frame of the front door. I was possibly thinking that a piece of diamond plate on the front and paint it orange and slap some Harley decals on it and put it on ebay. What does everyone think. I want your ideas.

Soooooo 1970's!

But yes, I think that is a fantastic idea and would probably capture a great price.

Josh

Does this thing take money or free vend? Pretty strange looking.   Does it have a door over the bottle pull area?

If you part out I would like the bazel from around the bottle opener.

It does take money. If you look just below the bottle stack there is a coin slot. There isn't a bottle door. The front woodgrain door has a magnet seal all the way around it and when you open that you just put the money in and pull the bottle out. Here is a pic of the inside.

Kevin, is this the bezel you are looking for?

If so, it is available on eBay right now with a Buy It Now price of just $6.99

Kevin I just went out and looked and there is no bezel. It is just a raised lip like the vendo 56. It looks like chrome in the pic but that is just the flash.

Another question. This is for everyone with a vendo 56 that vends cans. DO the can stacks also allow bottles to vend? Long necks are too big to fit in the hole so I am wondering if the small bottles will fit. I was hoping that it would vend long necks because it would make it more marketable to the harly crowd. This machine is really clean. I eish it was a more collectable machine. This thing is rust free.

What about a plexi-glass front from a new soda machine now with the Coke bottle in ice graphics cut down to fit.
Do you know a vinyl sign guy? Maybe some sort of Coke
Fishtail logo with a can or bottle?........
Hmmmmm '<img'>

I thought about that but I don't think it would resell that well as Coke being that it wouldn't be origional. I know that the Harley and beer items go for big bucks on ebay. What do you think. I really don't know what to do with it. If it was a rust bucket it would be easy to throw away but it is in such great shape. I only bought it for $50 so it isn't like I am out any big money.

Nope , sorry Josh, a "Can" stack (on a vendo) will only vend cans...if you look at the shelf where the cans await a vend, you'll see "sweeping" arm that pushes the can forward as the customer pulls on that selection... But on the bright side this rack WILL allow you to convert another Bottle vending machine (V63/56) into a can machine & you could do the reverse..(put a bottle rack into the "decorator" V63)

Eric that is exactly what I want to do. How did you do that? What does everyone think? Should I? John as for the rack I don't know if the decorator rack will work on other machines due to the coin mech being at the bottom instead of the usual electrical components. It works like the coin mech on a slider machine.

Hey guys....
thanks... I just did that real fast... It's Adobe photoshop I use
it everyday in my job....
Kick plate would be cool if you used that diamond plating stuff.
And some type of motorcycle handle or '<img'>? for a pull handle
on front.
I would maybe do the sides different to... play around with
some swishes or something I think I may have made it too
square looking... but it's a start.......

I like this idea more already and for those who
paint flames I'm sorry.... I know these aren't great.....
I don't have any samples for the plating I'm talking about but it would be killer.......

Josh, What Eric did is very cool I would go that way. And for the handle I think I would do a jockey shift for the handle
and put a Harley  Emblem near the bottom like a Cavalier'
has there's near the bottom  and the flames very cool.

if you pull the rack & look at the linkage, you'll see that it's the same darn rack, just mechanically linked, this model is often seen (by me anyway) on eBay with a bottlerack, if you're going to go for the Harley look, ( Which  .would look killer with the "flames" !!!) you might as well convert it to bottles in my option, so you'd yank the soleniod off a bottle rack & fit it to the coinmech of this unit...I'm betting that Vendo didn't "re-invent" the so-called-wheel when they put the "Can" rack into this model either....they where (& still are) big on interchangability of components...Go for it!!!  '<img'>

Well John do you want to trade for the bottle rack that you were buying from me. Or do you possibly not need the rack I was selling you. If you need it it is still yours. I would never back out of a deal. Just asking. I wasn't sure if you were just buying it as an extra.

I think that bezel is for the coin return not the bottle opener. Will it fit?

That bezel is to a coin return. It will fit your coin return but not bottle opener.

Wow I just got a quote on how much the metal will be for the front. I had no idea. Just a flat piece of aluminum is $100. I was still thinking about doing the whole front in polished diamond plate and that is $112. I think that is the best since it won't have to be painted. What do you all think this thing might sell for on ebay when done. I dont want to sink a small fortune into it. I was thinking about painting the sides all orange with black decals and the door trim on the front black with the polished diamond plate front. It would look like the new diamond plate refrigerators that they have now. Any info

Ebay pricing & selling is always strange. But the Harley ideas sounds good.

What would it look like with the front cover off completely
then paint the front door with the window?....
Can that be done?

I don't know that I understand. Are you saying take the front door off and just use what is behind it? The reason That would not work is the front door is what seals the cold air in. There is no bottle door behind the big front door just a hole to pull the bottles through. I am in the process of taking the wood pannel out now and it is easier said than done. The foam inside is injected in from a hole in the bottom of the door. This is going to be harder than I thought. And more pricey.

No, you wont be able to vend bottles with a can rack. It's different because it has a "foot" that pushes the can forward when you pull the front tab.
Because of availibility and cost, cans are preferred.
You got a nice bottle stack and compressor for $50.00. Quit while you're ahead. I painted one Coke red and white once, tried to sell it for 2 years then parted it out.
I'd like to see the Harley idea applied to a real glass door machine though.          Glen

Hey all,
I have a  pepsi 56 with a can rack also.  Just wanted to know if anyone knows if there is a place you can trade your can rack for a bottle rack.  Or is there anyone who has one sitting around they want to sell or get rid of:)  All brands will work I'm sure.  Thanks all.
