DN 180/105-5 Repainting / Fixing up

Received this beast from some friends who graduated college and didn't wanna haul it home.  Sat around for a few years and now I've decided to paint it MN Vikings colors. 

Here are some pics of what it looked like:







I removed most of the outside paint and tried the back w/ Vikings purple flat.  I didn't know what type flat, gloss, etc.  I brushed it on but don't like it.  I'm thinking I need to get a sprayer, which my neighbor said I could borrow.  I know if I stick w/ the flat I need to put some protective clear coat over it.

Things I would like to do:

Flat color ok?  Sprayer best way to go about painting?

Free dispense - I've read a little and think I need to make a switch

New Push buttons.  Current ones are discolored / yellowish where to find/buy. 

Woodgrain, don't like it.. not sure if I should just paint over it or what...Suggestions?

I've tested the power consumption and believe it was just a bit more than our fridge, which is from the mid 90s.  I believe I calculated around 9$ a month.   Not sure if I can do anything insulation wise to improve that.  The door seems fine / original.

I'm definitely a newbie but if your going for a certain look a hvlp paint gun is the way to go. And the wood grain usually peels off. You have to heat it up to loosen the adhesive so it will come off.

Try not to paint the wood grain it will look pretty bad.

I'll paint the machine and keep the grain as it and see how it looks.  Should have it painted next week.

Q's:

       Yes a switch must be used in order to operate vend motors.

       You may look into buffing and polishing those buttons.

       Insulation should be fine, all you can do is check for leaks around the door gasket.

       I'm surprised nobody has commented on that can stack.
       Somebody went to a lot of trouble cutting it down to create refrigeration space.
       I think they did a nice job but since the shelf needs to come off each time you fill the machine, that space might not be very useable.
       Also it might be a good idea to bypass the sold out switches so you can vend more product without refilling.

That shelf isn't how it is suppose to be?  I could probably just put in cans higher?  That was there when I received the machine. 

Bypass sold out will do that also!

Just got the sprayer today, so next will I'll get to painting.
