This is one great site! I bought my 1st old machine a couple of weeks ago and have been busy
in the evenings cleaning and repairing it. This site has been a wealth of information. I bought a Cavalier
css-12-141 with the (super cool) stylestar sign. This came from the original owner who removed the 'bar'
in the bottle stacked so that cokes could be pulled out and paid for at the counter (cost of cokes went up and he
was unable to change the coin mech).

This is where I need some input (help!) I'd like to buy the part I'm missing and to possibly find a pic
of the assembly.

Thanks again for the great place to learn about these machines.

I found the ballasts for the sign from funtronics. A very nice lady described the 'bar' that
I'm missing, but they do not sell them.

Here's a pic.

I haven't figured out how to change my username yet (sorry). This was a reference to Beaver Lake, Arkansas.

You can also try sodajerkworks.com. Not sure if they would carry that either. You can ring them, they are super cool.

Check with Soda Jerk Works.  They are a sponsor of this site.  Steve has a pretty big boneyard. He may have what you are missing.  That machine is not rare by any means so you should be able to find a donor part.

Welcome to the site!
Hope you have found the missing parts.

Please ignore the current resident clowns that are still stuck in 2nd grade playground mental states.

You still need anything to complete your machine. Just post up a question. Will do the best to help you out.

It's more than just asking a question and out, it's a community where we like to have some fun. If you get a response you don't like, don't take it personally, just us degenerates having fun. I've had more than one thread go south myself!

Your offended at his innocent name that he explained, but not banning or removing any of the obvious comments from the long time members that could possibly be offensive... Congrats, I'm completely stumped by the hypocrisy.

Shouldn't that threat be toward the actual offenders if your offended, not the innocent party? Or can we all just get along and play nice!

It's pretty clear that he want's to change his user name and doesn't know how. So instead of banning him for something he want's to change how about helping him change it.

Thanks for addressing the name issue, I'm just responding to some emails send in regards to the original name, I've taken the time to research your email address & Understand reference to the cabin rentals on Beaver Lake. [and no, it's not a last name, all prior crude jokes aside, myself included in the past.] So just Global moderation'

So done & done. on with the show.

The time difference means I missed all this.. Glad its sorted.

A new member with a problem, lets focus on getting him sorted and suckered into this all consuming hobby. Introduce him to the delights
of the soda machine and then wack him with a stoner or two and before you know it another addict clawing through craigslist and eBay
looking for his next fix.

Hey Alan,

I'm going to cut past all the BS and first welcome you...this really is a great place, sorry for the bad first impression.

I'm trying to think of what 'bar' would have been pulled out of the vending stack.  Do you have any photos of the inside?  Were the bars in each of the vending columns removed, or was it the flapper at the bottom of the stack that was removed?

There are bars in each of the vending columns that should connect to the front white flappers and to the back of the vending stack, maybe those?

Hi Tkaz,

I think that maybe the initial information about a 'bar' missing was incorrect. The bar that holds the vending gates in place is there. Everything works. That's the problem, everything works all the time for free! I'm going to buy more of these bottle machines and put them in service but I gotta get a buck apiece for the cokes to at least cover the electricity costs.

I think the problem is in the pic. This shot is the bottom/back of the bottle stack. I think I'm missing parts near the vending solenoid.

I've been told that the Cavalier bottle stacks remained the same from about 1956-73 so if I can't buy the parts individually, I'll just try to find a parts machine and rob it! (I'll buy the machine first).

Do you have a pic of the back side?  Is the solenoid there and does it activate when you put a coin in?  I have some photos I'll find and post of what it all should look like.

Looks like you might be missing the 'flapper' which is what prevents the stack from vending.

Here's a couple photos of Cavalier vending stacks, these are from a USS but are very similar.  I'm not sure if the CSS has a chain, so ignore that part.

To disable a Cavalier, the flapper that is housed in the triangleular slot (on the lower left of Tkaz's picture),
along with the horizontal bar above it.....must be removed. These are probably all you are missing.

Tkaz, you rock! This was the pic I needed to see. Mine has a chain, don't know if the solenoid
was actually working or not. The machine is apart right now, may be towards the end of the week
before I can check it out.

The second picture is a part that fell out of the machine when I removed the liner. Is this the flapper?

Thanks a lot for posting your pictures, this helps, I really appreciate your time.
Moondawg - thanks a lot for the information.

Yep, that's the flapper, good to see you still have it, pretty lucky!  Once you get it back in the slots, you can manually test the vending by pushing it towards the back of the stack (simulating the solenoid push/coin entry), then opening a vending column.  Once you do that, the flapper should move back to the front side of the stack and prevent the vending columns from opening again.
