Those Who Stay Will be Champions!

« on: April 09, 2013, 12:59:49 pm »

Stopped by my local Costco to grab a few items and decided to get a hot dog and Coke.  The cup was not the familiar red and white Coca Cola cup so I asked why.  I was informed that next week the fountains would be switched over to Pepsi products--at least at my local store; however, I would suspect that this is a national thing.  Apparently, Pepsi under-cut Coke and the boys and girls in Atlanta would not match the price.

I know the Pepsi people will be happy; however, I am not!

Well..... Just another reason to cut back on hot dogs and fries for me from Costco!  (Although their fries are gooood lol)

Pepsi in a can upsets my stomach... but fountain Pepsi has a really bad after taste (for me at least)

A friend of mine is opening a bar in downtown Phoenix. Coke wouldn't do crap for him, but Pepsi gave him a sweet deal and a cooler, so he is serving Pepsi.

No way,, can't do it .. .I was born with Coca-Cola instead of blood in my veins ..
Grandpa owned a Coca-Cola Bottling plant, My Dad worked there until they sold it, I worked there for about 3 years before it sold..

when I was a kid, we would go into a restaurant as a family and my Dad would ask if they sold Coke or not.. and if not.. He walked us right out the door!

I remember one instance we sat down , He ordered a Coke and when it came out he tasted it and it was Pepsi, he called the manager over saying he ordered a Coke and why did they bring him a Pepsi... We walked out..

Interesting times as a kid but when your livelyhood depended on it.. it's just the way it was....

Same here - Tina likes (liked) Pepsi and I was always partial to Coke.  Her tastes have since "matured" and she's now a Coke fan.   I guess it helps having 4 Coke machines in what used to be the dining room.   smile

I don't depend on Coke for a living, so I won't refuse Pepsi as an alternative but my son Daniel will ask and if it is Pepsi, he orders something else.   I personally find Pepsi too sweet for my taste.

Same with my wife and I.  She will only drink cola at restaurants when they offer Pepsi.  If not Pepsi, she drinks water.  I am a Coca Cola man.  I still love her, just a little less.

I believe they will.  This is related to the soda fountain at the food court.

I know Pepsi likes to think they have passed Coke but the truth is Last year Coke held 41% of the market and Pepsi 29%.  I have had the pleasure to assist the Coke company employee's in Atlanta install several of their free style machines . The machines only use one box of syrup to make all 125 flavors ,They mix the flavors inside the machine and unlike in the past you do not need a box for every flavor. Every machine  has a direct connection to the coca cola company and they can follow every flavor so they know the market and the customer can know what sells at their location. The Coke company holds onto their past  in advertising with Santa clause and the  polar bear. I looked a Pepsi and they have changed with the wind every time it changes and just signed Nicki Minaj and I think she has damaged  American idol lets see how she can help Pepsi. I would love to have  free style machine like I show below but at $20,000 I think  my grand children will have to collect them 50 years from now.

I'm pepsi all the way.  Despite them losing market share, sometimes it's all about the dollars that support you than the product itself.

If you eat at Burger King!
I try to eat as little fast food as I can - can't say I have eaten at a fast food chain in over 20 years....1990 I think it was when my wife (then fiancee) and I were just desparate and on the road late. When the guy was totalling our order, a roach crawled up the wall behind him. I let out an 'eeuugh" and pointed it out to her - the guy saw me, turned around, threw something at the arachnid, opened the window, smiled and said, "That will be $9.88". glare

The free style machines are very user friendly and cool, but I just don't drink much soda anymore.
Now if they were to make one with a 125 different beers in it??  happydrinkers

I don't have a Costco near me but we do have Sam's. They still have Coke at the food court. As far as preference I like Coke and if it isn't available I'll opt for a rootbeer but it's becoming short in supply as a fountain drink in my area so if it's not available it's iced tea.
