What is a vendo 81/56 coin door and coin mechanism with no slug rejecter going for these days?  I just picked one up at a flea market and was curious on the value

Well then, I guess it was my lucky day...this was at the Charlotte Auto Fair today, about four vendor rows from where I parked this stuff was strewn out on a table.  The coin mech and the door were a package deal, I even showed her how it all worked.  It was labeled Vendo 56/81/110, so they know what it was.  I threw out an offer in the spirit of bargaining and she yelled into the camper and her husband agreed.

The mech is a .15c non-change giver, tested it out when I got home.  Door has a small dent in the bottom corner, but that's it.

Even got a photo of it 'in the wild'...

I spoke with a collector/restorer today named Robert who lives in Chicago and was at the show today.  He wants to sell me a coke 110.

Ironically, Tyler Dale (aka Rick's son) was speaking with Robert when I called him back. Tyler flew in for the show...too far to drive for him.

For a brief second (very brief), I felt I was in the "in crowd". (Dobie Gray would have been proud!)

I wanted to tell Tyler his step mom Kelly was hot, but I had to refrain.  I'm sure he's never heard that before...

Robert in Chicago and I just talked again.  Tyler and Ron Dale are heading to Robert's shop tonight. Robert said Ron called him the other day and asked him to help him buy some machines while at the show.  I was tempted to say I had a v39 that was once converted into a c72 if they had any interest. LOL  biggrin

So another question, was this the right slug rejector for the mech?  I didn't buy it, but can easily stop back by tomorrow and grab it, I don't think it'll be gone.

Huh, so I should grab that handle for the $30 they were asking too!  Fortunately, prices weren't as marked

I have no idea what Robert's last name is. He had posted an ad on CL saying he buys upright coke machines.

No, I think Tom will confirm the rejector is for a large door mech.
Even though you do have a large mech. it is actually Vendo's earlier small mech. mounted inside a large shell.
Uses the same rejector as V-39, VMC-33 etc.

Huh, so can the small door mech be removed and used as-is (if I added the right slug rejector) or should I just leave it like it sits?

It's worth twice as much the way it sits.

Thanks for everyone's input.  I worked out a fair deal for the parts with Tom, and we are both happy! Thanks Tom!

I recently bought 2 VMC Pepsi machines (an 81 and a 110)...thanks to Leonard. Been looking for a long time, and as usual, Leonard came through for me. Thanks Leonard!

And thanks also to Jeff Brumett and Jim Holmgren for their assistance on the sale and pickup/delivery of these machines for me.  I really appreciate your help as well!  This site is great!

I plan on restoring these machines, so these parts will come in real handy. I may also buy Coca Cola Vendo 110 in the near future...

When it rains, it pours!  I'm so excited to get these babies!

Do they actually vend anything without a door? Wouldn't that make them coolers? Does the 110 cool? So it's not a machine as it doesn't vend, but it doesn't cool so its not a cooler.... what's left bob, what is it again?!?! HA!! I WIN!!

Were you on the debate team in high school Tim?  Sure sounds like it.  Maybe you should go back and finish your senior year!  LOL
