Anyone interested in a S-48 Glass Door in the San Antonio Area ? For around the 700$ mark ?, just trying to help out a friend sell it, I know they're not as desirable as the other slant shelves but it's a nice complete machine... Plus it's a 7up, I know the majority of the ones produced where Dr. Pepper, anyhow inbox me for pics or questions ! Thanks !

Actually to be honest I'm not sure what a fair market value is on that machine, I know the regular S-48 are only worth a few hundred dollars but seeing this is a multi-vend machine much like the 81's or 56 I figured it sounded fair... I never deal with the selectivend, never really come up in my area so I really don't know... Maybe some one on here can chime in on a fair market value...

Post a picture and you will get plenty of opinions on here. Condition is everything.

The book says the Dr. Pepper is $550 in fair condition back in 1999. Given SMC inflation and how hot the market is on all of this stuff due to the boom making this stuff go up in value, most members will tell you its worth about $150-250. But then would sell it for at least 4-5 times that!!!

Just looked at a picture of the glass door version. I just don't understand why this machine is not more sought after. I'd love to own one..

I'm not sure any made it above the Mason-Dixon line. If you want one up here... get ready to ship it.

I agree MaineT it's a really nice machine, I don't get why it never gained popularity with collectors... If shipping from Texas to Niagara Falls NY wasn't so outrageous, I would buy it myself, wait, anyone from the San Antonio area going to the Chicago show next week I'll post some pics or the machine tomorrow !

Happy that the Selectivend machines get no respect. Best built machines by far. Carry on. Creighton

Jeffmon - I'm not sure if this is your friend's machine, but this one has been on San Antonio Craigslist for a while. Sorry if it's not the one you're trying to sell. I will delete this post if it isn't. http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/atq/3664923661.html

I've seen that one on there a good while as well. Thought about checking it out while I was down there lay week for spring break, but couldn't have fit it in the Flex on the way home anyways. I like the Selectivends as well, and this would go well with my S-47 7up standard machine. Just not high on the priority list yet. Is this one embossed?

Not sure if the one I pictured is embossed. I'm too far away to look at it.

I too like the selectivends they are great machines, they by far have the best cooling decks ive ever delt with. Every cavalier machine I own has cooling problems, but my 64sa selectivend is 50 years old with just a rewire and the cooling system works awesone. A very well built machine.

I'm jealous that yours works, BioScan! Mine S-47 is missing the rack inside, so working isn't an option right now. I've been keeping my eyes open for a rack or a rusted out S-47 that I can cannibalize, but no luck so far. Our S-48 was a big hit around the house until the freon line sprung a leak. Trying to find someone in town that can patch it and recharge it with whatever will work it near impossible! Everyone says they have too many jobs and don't have time to do this simple job...kinda blows my mind that they don't want to earn some money in these parts!!!

I reached out to the guy, but they said they were asking close to 1000 for it. I proceeded to say it was listed by a friend on here for around 700 and they said they could'nt go lower than 750. I left them a standing offer of $500 giving it would be a few hours drive for me and the machine looks to have some good rust , but nothing penetrating from the pics they sent me. Am I off on the mark at offering 500? I thought it was a really good offer considering the shape.

I don't think you are too far off the mark if it's complete and cools. Would be better if the 7up logo is embossed, since the 7up machines were generally embossed. It seems most of the glass door models were later conversions of the single flavor machines, so most were unembossed converted Dr Pepper machines. I think $1000 is way high for the condition. I gave $1000 for our nearly completely restored S-48 Dr Pepper in my avatar 10 years ago in Florida.
