Congrats and welcome to the club!
I love the 1400. I had one almost completed, but sold it to finance another project. There are many jukebox owners here, A juke looks so good next to to a pop machine, so please keep us in the loop of your progress

I have the same juke but have not touched it since I picked it up - plays but needs cosmetic restoration. Post plenty of pics as you redo this one and congrats on your pickup.

Not a darn thing wrong with a 1400. Congrats on a great score! It will just be some cleaning and a new needle and you will be good to go. Creighton

Don't forget to recap the amp and make the wiring isn't brittle. And the pilasters on the 1400 are harder to find than a RC 81. YOurs look like they were Wico repops, regardless, don't let them crack or break

Just recieved a nice repop manual today! GREAT schematics included. What a fascinating machine!!! Already found the missing 6L6, and 5U4 tubes. Kilroy, thanks for the heads up on the caps already ordered a set, remember having to do the same thing on my old radio I restored. Also I have read how hard it is to find the palasters!!!
Have a nice lead on an old pre- flipper pinball machine going to look at this weekend! The old "time warp" room is starting to take shape!
Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement, this board is fantastic. will keep you posted on progress....

Got the lights working!!! Figured out that dang selector problem, so now now all trays are opening and closing perfectly. Got turntable going up and down, but for some reason the motor only turns on for the upper record or odd number selections? (gotta figure that one out?) Finished recapping the amp tonight, and the missing tubes arrived today so tomorrows the big test day for amp and speaker? ?

9. Picked selection # 21, record came out perfectly, turntable came up 10. IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE 11. Original speaker sounds great!! Now to figure out that turntable problem on the bottom records or even number selections? Work on 10 cent and 25 cent coin selection accumalator also. Then FUN of cosmetic resto!!!!!

if none of the even numbers will play, make sure the contacts are clean ( the 1400 has 2 sets of contacts per side . I am thinking more like a broken connection, or bad contact point if haf your selections don't register

Thank you for the response Kilroy. May be I did not state the problem well enough. All the selections register fine. It will search, choose the correct record, the tray comes out, turntable will bring up record to play. Arm will come over to to play record. Only the turntable will not turn on/ rotate on the bottom song of the record or the even selections. But on the top songs or odd selections turns on/ rotates and plays fine.

I finally figured out that darn turntable problem! After INTENSE studying of the wire schematics and a lot of multi-meter Ohms probing I found a reversing switch located on the rear selector wheel assembly. Now when the top side of the record (Or Odd Number selection) is chosen, a small tab cycles through and turns this switch on which turns on the turntable motor and spins it CLOCKWISE.---- NOW I found out power also runs though this same switch when the Bottom side of the record (or Even number selection) is chosen too, its just that the tab does not turn the switch ON so power is routed to the opposite side of the turntable motor, and spins it COUNTER CLOCKWISE After taking apart the switch and testing it, it was fine. Both coils on the Turntable motors ohm out good too. SOOOO the wire probing started, and I found the broken power wire from the harness to the switch! Replaced and Works great on all 48 selections now!! Now just finishing the fine tune adjustments!! which are about 20 of them. Amazing technology to behold how everything cycles in harmony!!!

Glad you found the issue. Dinking about with some of my stuff and finding hidden by good insulation looking broken wires are first suspects. Bad connections second. Coils and relays can tell when they are toast for the most part.
A good multi-meter and knowing how to use it will sort out how to fix a ton of problems.
YouTube of that juke in action? Thanks. Creighton

Thanks Creighton! Will definitely put up a YouTube soon on the mechanicals. Now the fun cosmetic stuff can be started. I am thrilled to death that my 12yr old has taken an interest in this project, and has been helping!! I would imagine by the time Im done with the two pinballs I will be pretty versed with relays!!!
