I am working on a Cavalier USS 8 64. The machine works great but the compressor only turns on when the thermostat is almost to the off mark. If you move the nob either way it just turns off and gets warm. But with it at that one spot it works great. Is it the thermostat that is bad? If so will any thermostat work. I have a few off of other machines but they don't have a nob on them and they look different. Again as you can tell Cooling systems are not my thing.

Well I spoke to a referigeration tech and we decided that it was a thermostat, he also informed me that they are rather generic so I took one off of a newer spare unit that I have. It now works just fine. The machine isn't completely done yet but here is a pic so far. I have the coin bezel and a new coin return nob on order. I am really happy about how this machine turned out.
