It's called a Furnell.  It's studio lighting and designed to mount from a ceiling pipe grid.  This particular one is a key light with barn doors attached.  I can't tell the brand from the photos.  We have two old television studios with these still mounted on the grid.  Our new studios have gone with the flourescent and LED's.

The correct spelling is Fresnel. On some, the lamp is designed to burn base down, others burn base up. If you want to use the original lamp, don't turn it over or it will blow prematurely.

Thanks for correcting the misspelling detroittvguy.  Creighton, you could probably convert it to a regular light socket rather than trying to use it as is.  A nice dim light shining out of it would look good, and not get hot.

Good luck with it.

Thanks for the info... I"m assuming when you say base down, it should light the way it sits and not flip it over.. in other words have the "Sled" on the bottom.. that is the way  I plan on using it.. I did rewire it the other night and it works great.. wow, talk about bright and HOT!.. won't be on for long periods of time is for sure...

the guy I got it from , just called me today saying he has another one.. matching set.. I might go pick it up... but it's missing the lense.. anyone know where I could get a lense for it?

Thanks

Thousands were made. Lense should not be a problem.
If you don't care about original a circle of high heat glass would be fine.
Use mine everyday. Handy device.
