Here's an original Coke Junior cooler I picked up at the Chicago show. Nice all original with no rust. I am going to restore it. Question I have for everyone is should I chrome the side handles or paint them back red like it was originally?

Red. I would think chrome handles would look cheesy

Id say do what you do to the main lid handle... maybe a brushed nickel would look nice too. if your going to restore it , then the whole thing is going to "SHINE" so Chrome would look fine on it I'm sure..

The Half Junior Cooler is a rare fine, Petretti's 12th edition has them value at $1400. I would keep it original, but chrome and new paint would look really nice. I'm for right now not restoring it, but may in the future. I'm looking for the side handles.

This might be the perfect opportunity to inquire about having a set of handles reproduced.

I could really use a set, hint hint Rod. I have searched and come by some recess pulls that were similar, but they need to be just right to fit in the holes and the right bolt pattern.

Copy and print the photo in this auction of the side plate without the handle.
With this and dimensions, a metal shop will be able to make up 2 similar pieces and bend some handles. I'm thinking they would punch several of these out of thick sheet metal and weld them together to create desired depth, then add a solid backing plate.

That is so cool. Great way to display it, setting it apart from picnic coolers.
Looks like those legs may have been an option.

That looks a little wide to be a half, is that a Junior with the legs cut off, then hacked back on?

MoonDawg, got it saved, I come across some that were close and had three holes, I just may order them and weld and drill new holes to match the original.
