How much power is my v-56 using ??

I have a vendo 56 and I was curious about how much power I'm using when I leave it on? Says 115 volts. What I'm trying to say is, is my home refridgerator using more electricity or my coke machine. ? Will my electricity bill sky rocket ? Thanks

Skyrocket?   No.
Is it as efficient as a modern refrigerator?   Heck no.

Just about everything in your house runs on 115v, except things like electric ovens and dryers.  110-115v is standard North American current.

If you keep the machine full it will cycle less. Don't have it plugged into an and extension cord and put in on a circut that has very little load. You will be fine. The smile factor of a vintage machine far outweighs the minimal electrical cost.

Your old compressor will use more than a modern one, that's if you have the original still in it.

I've found that most new refridgerators use around 5-7 amps of power unless they are really large commercial type. They are so efficient that the local electrical inspectors now allow us to wire dedicated fridge recepticles with 14 guage wire where before they wanted a 12 guage wire.  That's a 20 amp circuit compared to a 15 amp circuit.

The only way to truly know what your pulling is put an clamp meter on it and measure it.  I'm guessing your going to pull between 8-12 amps if it's the original compressor, depending on it's condition and how clean the condenser coils are.  Dirty coils make the compressor work harder and run longer.
That's 1000-1500 watts if you want wattage numbers, similar to a hair dryer or small portable heater.

My older fountain machine draws about 7.5 amps, it's 1960's version.
I also just bought a new 5 cu ft chest freezer, it's draws 4.6 amps running.

If you are looking to save on the cost of running the machine, consider plugging into a timer. My machine comes on at 9:00am and off at 9:00pm. As state earlier if you keep it full you will not have a lot of temperature loss when it is off. When mine cycles back on in the morning the compressor only runs about 10 minutes before it is back to 34 degrees. This is on a Vendo 63.

Something else to consider if you use your machine to vend something that would normally be kept in the fridge, is how much less the fridge door is opened and shut. So the fridge has to run less or atleast that's what I tell my wife...LOL
