Great machine, are you planning to put a glass door on it? I'd love to find a 56, definitely high on my list.

I really haven't decided yet. The machine was 1 hour away, so I couldn't pass it up. Jared

Nice pickup slapshot!!! What are your plans for the machine? Mind if us curious folks ask what you paid for it? Again, congrats, and welcome to the club if you're not already a member!

I paid $1100. It needs to re wired, has all the shelves, and the coin mech. I also traded a generic Ideal 35. I forgot to take a picture but the drinking fountain was inside the machine.

Nice find and welcome to the RT-56 club. $1100 is very good.
Think your coin mech has been swapped out. Zero worries. Hope Tom chimes in.
Here's a pic of an original complete change giver.

Can I equip mine with a change giver?

Don't think so. Best bet would be try work a swap with someone. Change givers are $500 mechs at least. Tweeky to get the "Correct Change" flag to work right. Creighton

Nice price! Needs work, but you now have the canvas to work on! Although I've been at this for a few years now, I've noticed that of all the RT Vendos (44 56 81 110) the 56 is becoming less and less common and/or harder to find. Watch as I say this, 30 56RT will pop up here and there lol... but I feel that because they were made for just the 1 year, and from those that survived, to those that have been restored, to those that are worth restoring, etc... finding a good original 56 is not as easy to find as years ago. IF you do, you have to pay top $$ for it (as I know I payed more than I should have for mine 2400 or 2500 I now forgot) but its an original working and VERY presentable machine. Your thoughts?

Your thoughts?
I have seen 4 in the last 1.5 years. 2 of them were rusted so bad the bottom of the machine was literally gone. The other 2 were priced at 2500-2800. I did trade an Ideal 35 to lower the price. He was asking 1700.
I dont know how many they made and didnt know they were made for only one year 1958-1959. Perhaps than the electric coin mech option to adjust the prices faded it out along with, machines that could hold more product?
Thanks for the info..

I really like those machines. All the benefits of an 81 and slightly smaller. To bad most of them are rusted out overpriced junk when they turn up.

Best I can tell production started in late 1957 ended early 1959. Glass door versions were later on. Haven't had a great deal of success getting a SN# database established. There were at least 3500 made. Great machines. Creighton
