Sorry but this is the only picture I have, is there any way to tell the general value of this machine at an auction. I have never bought a 44 so I would not know where to stop bidding.

Cant really say on value but they are very rare. I think they reproduced these machines as well so I would be careful. If its a real 44 and everything is there with good paint...my best guess would be somewhere in the 2,000 to 3,000 range. On a weekend auction higher then that.

The 44 was once highly sought after. The seem to have dropped in value recently. Most seem to be missing the internals.
I don't see it being more than $1000.00 even if it is all complete.

44's have an appeal. Small and with a new build can rack good everyday machine. That one looks to have the crank handle which indicates the coin mech is there.
If no major dent/rust issues and complete I'd go to $800. Cooling and good original paint $1100.
If there is a preview to the auction and you can get better pics posted would be able to help further.
Highest I've ever seen for a 44 was $2200. It was a near mint example.
Let us know how it goes.

Well the machine went for $1300 and the auctioneer told every one it ran. I went over before the auction started and they had the coin door unlocked and I slid my fingers behind it and opened the latch ,the fan was running but the compressor was not, I hate it when people are lied to.

I agree , it was worth about $1000 to me because it had to have a total go over and the guy who bought it said he was going to have some one do it for him. If you have it done right he will have a good bit in it when finished but it must be worth that to him.

Exactly!
I get the same question all the time. When we (repair and restoration guys) work on
a machine, it doesn't matter whether it's from the 50's and a 44 or if it's from the
70's and it's a Cavalier 64. If we are the ones doing the work, the time and labor are the
same, but the values of the machines...no comparison.
So...what's it worth...to THAT customer?
