Not a very collectible machine. Most collectors wouldnt want one for free. You may skim ebay to find one. If you like it and it works thats all that matters.
Welcome the site!

Well the price was right (free) and it gets cold and everything. Easy way to enjoy a round top coke machine without spending alot of $$. Still looking for a bottle door assembly. Thanks!

Have you called Soda Jerk Works or Fun-Tronics...? They may have leads to someone with parts...

Also check Craigslist. You may be able to find a machine cheap, and part the rest to recoup your purchase. There were 1 or 2 V83's on Detroit's Craiglist, but shipping isn't worth it

Yes I called the soda jerks and they told me to come on here and ask for a bottle door as they didn't have any or know where to get one. I am doing my daily craigslist search hoping to find one, everyone that posts one up seems to think that the vendo 83 is worth just as much as a vendo 81...and they don't listen to me when I tell them that they are not worth that much.

Leave them your number, and tell them to call you if they change their mind. When no one shows any interest, or others tell them it's overpriced they may give you a call to get rid of it. Patience is the key

Be patient. A door will turn up at a good price. I have several machines I am looking to buy parts for. I sometimes find parts quickly and other times it takes awhile. I am aways checking ebay (nightly) and Craigslist. Don't forget to check the Craigslsit postings in areas near family and friends. I sometimes get items from other areas of the country and have either my brother, bless his heart, or a friend, run over and buy them on my behalf.
And personally, I like the Vendo 83. They look pretty darn sharp when restored. And they don't cost a fortune to buy either.
Good luck.
