Well I took the plunge and bought an Ideal 35. I probably paid more than they are worth but it looks pretty solid. This will be my first restoration and I think I'll go Coke just for the greater availability of decals.

Oh Me oh My...looks awfully like one I had a short while ago, here in the Detroit/Metro area. .... Well at least I know your coinmech housing has been restored & the inside painted, and it has a new top-gasket too,It's an original O~so grape & you have the pictures to prove it, it would be worth more restored as such, as some people get tired of see too much of the "red" , but you wont find any ready-made Decals for this one though...enjoy. it's a nice little machine. hope you got the cap-catcher in the deal...

Spoon-feeding Newbies since 2001... Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes. Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon! The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor 11 is louder than 10... "Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

I did get the cap catcher \ I hadn't really considered redoing it as original since I don't have any particular skill at doing logos and I'm not sure if it would really be worth it to me. I'm really doing this for myself, not to resell, but it will be nice to have that option.

Yes, I bought it from Bob. I used to live in the Metro Detroit area. Maybe I should go Vernor's.

I'm guilty as charged. And yes, it was Johnie's at one time.
I sold it because I'm trying to scrounge the funds together to have Pat restore My Hires Ideal 55. As you know, complete professional restorations aren't cheap when done correctly, and I know Pat will do it right. However, every time I get a little extra cash on hand, my wife comes up with a bill that needs paying, and whoosh! it's gone!
I need to work on that....I have a special bank account for my pop stuff...unfortunately my wife opens the bank statement each month and finds a way to spend it. Maybe I should get a PO Box, huh?

As someone who has collected Coca-Cola for 35 years ( as well as some other brands), I welcome seeing the oddball brands. Which begs me to ask...who here has the most differemt brands of any size sliders? I have seen pics of a set of 81s but a cool set of pics of different sliders would be cool!! And I would *love* to see a photo of the collection of cup machines that one member has. Sorry I forgot the name, I am afraid I would guess and get it wrong. Terry

I think you guys have me convinced to go off brand, but I'm not going to go O-So grape since I don't really feel a connection with it. I'm thinking I will go vintage Cheerwine. Yellow with green accents. Using the logo seen on the clock below.
