Peel off slowly, not a lot of pressure. Then use some GooGone to get rid of the residue.

Vinyl are easier to remove than water release, but both need heat to assist removal. I have found that a household iron works even better than a heat gun.

This thread got me thinking.... How would one go about removing a decal that is under a re-paint. Could be latex or automotive - don't recall. I have (from what I remember) is a CC decal on my 6CV that is different from anything I had seen before. I would like to salvage it if possible. Ideas?? Oh...as I recall the decal is centered on the vertical bend on the 110 main door (if that makes a difference in what to do).

If it is latex a damp towel warmed by an iron should do the trick. If automotive paint try paint thinner first. If that is a no go work your way up, paint stripper etc.. Good luck!! Creighton

I am 80% sure it is not latex, but whatever it is it definately looks like it was applied with a brush. I'll have to dig it out sometime....

Does the iron method remove the decal in one piece? My gas pump has a derby sticker on it that I would like to save but really can't use since I am making it a standard pump and it is ontop of a phillips 66 shield of paint (the paint literally chipped off around the phillips decal that was over the derby decal)

You can have the sticker scanned by a sign shop and they can reproduce it with an inkjet vinyl decal. I did it with a budweiser decal.

I got the decal off with no problem. It wanted to curl up so I just put it upside down on the ironing board with the wet towel over it and used the iron with steam to flatten it back down. Now I have a nice decal that I can display. Worked really fast too.
