Came across this, guy wants $4500 which is much but he said make an offer he cant refuse. Guy only has one pic and said the plastic is rough and cabinet is ok at the top but will need work at the bottom. Whats a safe price to pay? Also is an 8 hour drive

The plastics are all available as repro's, after 60 years, most didn't survive.
What's missing from the inside? Is the record mech, coin grinder trays all there? What kind of work on the bottom of the cabinet? Flood? Termites?
And it's a 78 rpm player, and now you won't put an MP3 player in it
Without knowing what's there, what needs to be reworked,, I can't put a price on it. If it helps , I picked up a solid 1015, with pilasters in worse shape for $3600, and a 4 hr drive to get it.

the guy is vague but said he will get more pics, he didn't say whats there and whats not. I'll get more pics up once i get them. I'm thinking around $2000 but have no idea. I have always loved these.

That pic doesn't give near enough info to go on. If the box is in Georgia or Fla you have termites to be concerned about. If it's in TX, OK, or southern CA you have to be concerned if it came from Mexico. Re-veneering to sides of that box is relatively simple. Almost everything for that box has been reproduced. Todays market is nowhere near what it used to be, just like real estate, it's a buyers market. If it's complete then a fair number would be no more than $3k. If the coin is missing take off $500-$750 depending on how much is gone. If the base is bad take off $100, if the mech board needs re-veneered take off $100. If any of the metal is extremely pitted beyond repair then take off more$. Make sure the amp and speaker are there. Also, ask the seller if there are any 78's that go with it.

Parts weren't readily available in Mexico and South America, and by the time they crossed the border they were saved from being put out to pasture.
So the boxes are jury rigged to keep working, and rigged badly.

Notice 1015's have been repopped in 45rpm and CD versions. Could be tough to ever get your money back on a 78rpm restoration.
