Your best bet will be a sewing machine shop if it is 110. Hard to find in the smaller bulb size that won't melt any surrounding plastic bits. I've just about given up and will probally convert to LED.

Looks like a 3056 or an 1156 auto bulb that you can buy at any auto parts store it might be a 1157 or a 3057 being that is a two element bulb

nevermind....... those wont work for 110.......DUH

Are you sure it's 110v? I'm inclined to agree that the socket looks more like a 12v automotive type....

That is kinda what i thought. It may have a transformer to convert the power for the 12V bulb.

here's a scan of the wiring diagram, its hard to get a good readable scan and getting the file size small enough.  i dont see a transformer in my system, i may be wrong.  was hoping another Ideal 80 member could tell me what bulb they have in theirs.

If it is 110 it may be easier to change the socket to adapt to the screw-in type bulb.

Here it is... http://www.bulbtown.com/6S6DC_120V_MINIATURE_BULB_BA15D_BASE_p/40804.htm

I figured out the base socket is a BA15D.. There are a few options for it... http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&=&q=120v+miniature+lamp&aq=0&oq=120v+min#sclient=psy&hl=en&source=hp&q=120v+miniature+lamp+BA15d&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&pbx=1&fp=9bef8cda26d1a6ec

thats a good idea, hadnt thought about that!   i'll get a meter on it when my new unit comes, see what it's running.  maybe there's a transformer in the coin mechanism that would dumb it down to 12v or 24v ?   im still holding out for another Ideal owner with a bulb in theirs to tell me what they have.

Bubba, You get a gold star. This one appears to be what I need for the Selectvend 1A.
Thanks!!

Tricky biz with old bulbs. Need to check orientation of locking pins and contact points. Also if locking pins are at the bottom or staggered.

Again Thanks!

If you do convert it to a screw type socket that uses those little night light bulbs I would recomend going LED. Got some mini LED bulbs for my machine and had the correct change light and one sold out light on 24 hours a day for at least 3 months and the bulb never got above room temperature. It was a little dimmer than the other bulbs but they ran cooler and I did not have to worry about them melting anything or damaging the lettering any more than it all ready is. Here is a post I made that shows the bulbs working. http://soda-machines.com/discussions/index.php/topic,10718.msg82190.html#msg82190
