Take a look at this Ford neon I saw this weekend. The dealership just recently closed.

AWWWWW.
That would look so cool in somebody's garage, or maybe warehouse.

Did you try to buy it, as you probably already know those bring good money. I had a rough one and did real well with it.

There was nobody around. This was Friday morning. I don't know who bought the building, or if Ford still owns it. I might try to find out or will have my father-in-law try to check.  My mind tells me, "Tons of people must have asked about that sign", but you never know.

Ford doesnt own it, the building owner owns it. It would be like saying Coke still owns every 1950s Coke machine.

You're right. I was thinking that Ford might own the building, but really what I am wondering is if the dealership still owns the building or someone else.

You may be able to locate the building/property owner through the county property appraiser's web site...

I've done this before for other properties.

it's amazing what some of these dealership signs bring.. I think 14k is strong but have seen them 10-12k no problem.. all depends on condition of neon too. original Neon brings more money.

There is a chance that the land is owned by someone else than the dealership that was there...  So if the cars are gone and the sign is there I say its free game.   I think a pick truck, step ladder and 15 minutes on a dark night might make you the owner of a ford sign.  Really your just doing them a favor of cleaning up and getting out of the way.

A quick trip to the Register of Deeds office will tell you who owns the building.  It would be worth the trip to see if you can get that sign at a good price.

Surprised the Ford dealer that was there doesn't have a list of folks that have wanted to buy it over the years. It won't last long outside an empty building.
Great sign. If you get it, can I have first dibs when you decide to sell ? :-)

Well I'm not having much luck with finding online property record searches for that area. It seems that rural PA is not so up to date on their internet technology. Either that, or I just can't seem to find it on their county site. Plan B: Get the father-in-law on it.

The county clerk should be able to tell you who owns the building.

In chicago you can access property info thru the county assessor's offfice or the county treasurer's office on line.

you just have to be careful while inquiring about the ownership of the property, if someone else catches on to the value of the sign they might do a little midnight mission and take it down.
