I have a chance at a vendo 56 round corner machine. Machine has been restored b/f and appears to be i'n decent shape. Any help on the value would be great. Seller is asking 1600. I can forward pics but will not let me post from my phone.
Thanks i'n advance.

Looks as if they painted the outside, and called it restored.

Looks as if they painted the outside, and called it restored. I agree...no telling what is hidden underneath that shiny exterior? $1600? No way!

That looks like the one in Huntington Beach Ca. listed for $1500. All the pinstriping and decals makes it look like a Dan Cooney job but the lady claims her late father painted it. She had a refrigeration guy look at it and he told her the compressor is shot. With all the rust on the floor of the liner, and just being a 56......I'd bet there is also beltline rust too.

I am interested in buying a 56 also, but don't think this particular machine is worth 1600. Especially if the cooling system needs to be replaced.

You can do better. I sold a 56 for 1200, with a working compressor, and the usual belt line rust.

Sure would be a pity to spend money on a painted machine only to have to strip it down because of rust. And I believe if that machine wasn't taken completely apart and media blasted you will have waist line rust. The 56 model seems especially prone to it.

Glass door 56's always bring better monies. Cheesy pinstripping seems to sadly add value as well. May be why this $1100 (good day) dollar machine pulled down $1600. If looking to buy find a solid door and convert to glass. Creighton
