Nice find for $40.00 bucks. Are you going to restore it?

Excellent find. You don't find em that cheap too often anymore.

Congrats!

Grip it with vice grips and twist/pull as you hammer the other end. Be cautious not to distort the hole in the liner.

Great score on the machine! I love the V39's. We had a near perfect early original V39 one in our kitchen as I was growing up so I have a soft spot for 39's. The back of that cabinet looks pretty rough. Since you got it so cheap it may be smarter and a lot easier to get a replacement cabinet. There may be a member near you with a spare. You never know. Also gutted V39's show up on ebay quite often. You could find a stripped 39 that is close to you on ebay and just transplant your parts. Just a thought. I have seen several gutted 39's sell pretty cheap recently.

I would assume you remove the crank handle before you hammer....lol
It would be really cool to find a shell around here to put my parts into.
If not....my boss said he'd help me with what he can to replace the back
