I can't believe how much this is going for. I thought they were pretty common. Slap some red paint and some decals on it and OMG! $$$$

I recall  someone putting  Coca Cola labels  on a gumball machine, and getting crazy $$ for a  $25  machine.

Sigh. People are stupid. Or caught up in the   bidding. I'm leaning toward stupid

Yep. I wish Ebay would regulate this stuff. He says it is an original coke changer. It is obviously not. Someone probably painted it red with a $3 spray bomb and some stickers.

for example I had an RC airplane body that was green that had been hanging in a TGI Fridays a long time ago that I had in my bedroom when I was younger. My Dad bought it in an auction when they changed locations. Well It wouldn't sell on ebay so I painted it red and put some Coke stickers on it and it sold and for descent money but I was honest and said it was an airplane that had been painted red with some coke stickers put on it. I didn't make it seem like it was made by Coke. There is something about the Coke logo that makes people open their wallets biggrin

This flavor of topic comes up around once a year. But, it still absolutely amazes me what people will pay for a themed machine. Right or wrong, people eem to love them even knowing that they aren't "from the original factory, stock items".

Gumball machines are a great example of turning a large profit on a small investment. You can take a Northwestern 60 Gumball Machine that you paid $30 for, scuff up the original paint, re-paint, polish the chromem, add some decals and a little pinstriping tape. At the end you may have $30 into it.

Take a look at what they go for. I've seen "themed" Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and gas related machines go fo in upwards of $300!! For a higher seller price, use a $50 Victor Topper, they sell for even more themed.
