I was wondering if a person can pick up a power cord for the Vendo 81a locally at like say Lowe's or Home Depot?  I was going to buy one from a highly regarded reputable pop machine vendor only to find the shipping was over $15 just for a power cable.  Not that I don't want to support our businesses on here..... the cable was a fair price, but the shipping was like ouch.  Especially when US Mail sell those prepaid boxes for about $5 or less that would hold a cable.

Yes, you can pick something up at Lowes that will work. I think they sell 8" long, 12 or 14 ga. w/ground, black extension cords. Buy it and cut the female side off amd strip back the insulation and you will be in business.

IF your just replacing the cord, yeah, any hardware store can provide you with one, but most of the sponsors, like FT and SJW sell the whol wiring harness, which is good to replace if your going to do wiring anyway.

I'm leaning more to farming this out for a complete restore and it's got a cracked power cord.  I don't want to put a wiring harness on it myself because I want all that stuff to be new when I get it restored.  I will try to get some pics posted but I have a feeling somebody painted this machine once.  The gasket on the bottle door is red.  I believe that should be black??

No - the original BD gasket on an 81A was red.
